This. Seriously OP, a shitty censorship system has become a part of the Australian media landscape, we've had plenty of time to get used to it. I'll tell you what I do in the middle of summer when stuff like this happens? I go to the beach. I grab lunch and go out for a picnic or a long walk with my wife. If this ranks up there with things that seriously "depress" you, you're really fucking lucky.ForgottenPr0digy said:Move to another country that is not Australia
I was just being facetious about that part if you didn't pick it up. Yes I know that it's not the end of the world but this stream of pointless bans is just making our country look backwards. Right now the government should be focusing on repairing the damage from the floods, but when that's passed we'll still be stuck with this archaic system and I'm just making sure they don't forget we're annoyed with it.Spadge said:I could fill your screen many times with more serious issues concerning our government, or more serious issues our government are concerned with. But for now, play any one of the 99% of games that DO get released here.
My bad. I'm just well and truly sick of Aussies seriously complaining about this issue, specifically those who treat this as something of greater importance than the multitude of issues that we face. But yeah, I agree it's pretty backwards - but considering that most games that should be RC'd are instead released at MA, it's doesn't really affect us much.Yassen said:I was just being facetious about that part if you didn't pick it up. This sentence is so laden with irony. I shall now go play my purchased-in-Australia copy of The Witcher, with boobies.BioHazardMan said:Thank goodness I'm in the US, what's up with all this censoring?![]()
From what I've heard of Australia's porn laws...no. This is not true.lithium.jelly said:This sentence is so laden with irony. I shall now go play my purchased-in-Australia copy of The Witcher, with boobies.BioHazardMan said:Thank goodness I'm in the US, what's up with all this censoring?![]()
Seems Australia censors violence, not sex. While this is not an ideal state of affairs, it's at least more sensible than the other way around. Besides, it'll probably work out cheaper to import an uncensored overseas copy of Mortal Kombat than buy it here in Aus.
You're talking about one or two incidents, not an ongoing phenomena on every violent game.lithium.jelly said:This sentence is so laden with irony. And finally, I sincerely hope the publishers decide to simply not release it at all in Australia rather than chop it up to fit the classification board's outdated ideas of what is suitable. And then publicise this decision. This sends a very different kind of message.
No, I'm talking about an entire country that freaks out at the sight of a nipple. It's not one or two incidents, it's happened over and over again. Janet Jackson and the Superbowl was a particularly funny one.BioHazardMan said:You're talking about one or two incidents, not an ongoing phenomena on every violent game.
Yeah, you're right there TBH. Although we at least don't seem to have any concerns about minor sexual content. I remember quite a few movies when I was young, shown on free-to-air TV at times when all but the youngest kids would still be up and watching, that showed bare breasts.MaxwellEdison said:From what I've heard of Australia's porn laws...no.
