This is just depressing. This was going to be the first fighting game I was actually looking forward to. The irony.... it stings.

That sucks. Can't you just import it though? Would probably much cheaper too considering the extortionate pricing in Australia.

God Australians are dumb...Not the kids, the adults. We're one of the LEAST religious countries but we ban all these games for no good reason! GRAGHR!

Seriously. Just because people under 18 can't play it doesn't mean everybody else can't. Australia needs to understand that games are not just for children, and they should not be treated as simple children's toys.

This. Seriously OP, a shitty censorship system has become a part of the Australian media landscape, we've had plenty of time to get used to it. I'll tell you what I do in the middle of summer when stuff like this happens? I go to the beach. I grab lunch and go out for a picnic or a long walk with my wife. If this ranks up there with things that seriously "depress" you, you're really fucking lucky.
Regardless, the censorship system will get fixed eventually, but it is a miniscule problem in the scheme of things - it huge levels of inefficiency between our three levels of government, or the short sightedness of governments are far more significant issues we need to lobby against that MK getting RC'd.
I could fill your screen many times with more serious issues concerning our government, or more serious issues our government are concerned with. But for now, play any one of the 99% of games that DO get released here.

Or, find somewhere you can get it. [http://www.ozgameshop.com/xbox-360-games/mortal-kombat-game-xbox-360]

I was just being facetious about that part if you didn't pick it up. Yes I know that it's not the end of the world but this stream of pointless bans is just making our country look backwards. Right now the government should be focusing on repairing the damage from the floods, but when that's passed we'll still be stuck with this archaic system and I'm just making sure they don't forget we're annoyed with it.

My bad. I'm just well and truly sick of Aussies seriously complaining about this issue, specifically those who treat this as something of greater importance than the multitude of issues that we face. But yeah, I agree it's pretty backwards - but considering that most games that should be RC'd are instead released at MA, it's doesn't really affect us much.

You hit that link I posted?

Thank goodness I'm in the US, what's up with all this censoring? :p
This sentence is so laden with irony. I shall now go play my purchased-in-Australia copy of The Witcher, with boobies.

Seems Australia censors violence, not sex. While this is not an ideal state of affairs, it's at least more sensible than the other way around. Besides, it'll probably work out cheaper to import an uncensored overseas copy of Mortal Kombat than buy it here in Aus.

And finally, I sincerely hope the publishers decide to simply not release it at all in Australia rather than chop it up to fit the classification board's outdated ideas of what is suitable. And then publicise this decision. This sends a very different kind of message.

From what I've heard of Australia's porn laws...no. This is not true.

You're talking about one or two incidents, not an ongoing phenomena on every violent game.

While I'm sad that the Australians won't be able to buy the game, this kind of makes me happy. Not because it's banned, but because it means the series is going back to its roots, and putting something out that apparently earned a hard M. Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe was a huge step in the wrong direction, and it's nice to see that the gore, at least, is back in full force.

Hm... didn't know there was a new MK coming out. Not that I care; never liked MK much. I'm more of a KoF kind of guy.

For a second there I thought this was a joke, like they banned the original Mortal Kombat on the SNES and we're making a big deal out of it to poke fun at Australia's game rating system or something.

Well... Um... Sorry Australians. Keep fighting the good fight!

No, I'm talking about an entire country that freaks out at the sight of a nipple. It's not one or two incidents, it's happened over and over again. Janet Jackson and the Superbowl was a particularly funny one.

Yeah, you're right there TBH. Although we at least don't seem to have any concerns about minor sexual content. I remember quite a few movies when I was young, shown on free-to-air TV at times when all but the youngest kids would still be up and watching, that showed bare breasts.
