So I was thinking about this and I still reflect to the Legacy of Kain

Now before you start hating let me get this said.

Blood Omen 1....gamer was good, story was good, in battle voice over was annoying
Blood Omen 2....50 years later...game, story and flow was good
Soul Reaver.....2000 years later....OMFG good stuff...
Soul Reaver 2...still good. The story flows with no skips and paradox with a CRAZY cliffhanger
Defiance.....good wrap up but I still want more.

Now you tell me what you have to say

The Ace Attorney series.

It's just so damn good. And the localization work is EXCELLENT.

Professor Layton is an incredibly well done and original series, too.

inb4 Half Life!!

Assassins Creed
Half Life (=3)
Prince of Persia
Fallout

All had great settings, repetitive gameplay, made up for it by having a great story and likable characters.

@OP: the title betrays the intention.

Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei, The Legend of Zelda, Fallout, Mother and Mario are my favourite game franchises.

Baldur's gate series is the only thing I can think of right now, that hasn't already been mentioned.

FEAR ITS NOSTALGIA!
YYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I could play that for all eternity. Especially Future Perfect. And TS2. And TS1 (even though I never played it...) I once got a 3000 man killstreak (I had a bunch of free time, 8 hours to be exact) playing mars prision assault, BUT THEN THE GAME DELETED MY SAVE FILE. So now I have to unlock everything again... :-(

Ah well, at least Gingerbread Man is unlocked from the start. "Bite my crunchy, brown ASS!"

I never played the first one either. I started with the second. I think the second had better maps, and there are characters I wish would've returned for Future Perfect. But after playing Future Perfect, TS2 just doesn't seem very accessable.

The Legend of Zelda series is definitely up there. Anyone who didn't stare at their screen for over 5 or more minutes at the end of Majora's Mask, Link wandering on Epona off the screen in search of his fairy, obviously has no soul.

Also, the Ico series, spanning from Ico to Shadow of the Colossus. Those games are beautiful, and they create a hollowing pit in my stomach. As Emily Dickinson once said, "If I read a book [and] it makes my whole body so cold no fire ever can warm me I know that is poetry. If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry. These are the only way I know it. Is there any other way."

If a game can create such fervent heat within me...Then is it not a masterpiece?

Castlevania. It's managed to maintain a pretty clear continuity throughout its 20+ year history, and has epic music and awesome enemies. It doesn't get more epic than battling Death himself, or a gigantic demonic vampire like Dracula!

I'm going to say Final Fantasy, Mario, LoZ, Street Fighter, Anything vs Capcom, and quite possibly FEAR and/or RE.
