Most expensive or elaborate gaming peripheral

Just wondering what kind of extras people buy to enhance their gaming for enjoyment/immersion. In reference to your own examples have these purchases enhanced your gaming experiences or have the advertisements and promises over hyped these expensive alternatives.

Some of my varying experiences were buying a wireless controller for the original xbox, although the normal controllers had good length cords, the freedom of wireless was unparalleled. Also the size was a good compromise between the oversized original controllers and the overly small controller s.

Upon upgrading my PC at the end of last year i bought a logitech gaming keyboard and gaming mouse (not logitech). There is more of a point in the mouse with a handy sensitivity button and quick access buttons on the side. The keyboard has been more of an aesthetic addition. I havent made much use of the G-Keys (my fault as the user not the manufacturer), only helpful inclusion in this keyboard compared to standard was the ability to plug in headset with microphone.

Also have a fanatec GT2 wheel being delived within the week so this would be my most expensive gaming addition for a single product. Hopefully the high price in justified in a higher gaming experience.

So what have you bought and what has it changed in your gaming life?

I did a double take at that picture then stared at my mouse, which is exactly the same kind. 's white light, though.

OT: Probably my headphones, 176$ on Amazon. They're really comfy, though!

That thing is actually larger than my PS3, and expensive too, but it's brought me a lot of joy.

My surround sound system for the TV. Yes, I got it for other things as well, but it was mostly for gaming. I hate wearing headphones when I game, because I live in California, and it's REALLY hot in the summer, and when it's hot, and you're wearing headphones that cover your ears, lets just say things get uncomfortable with the sweat.

I can't remember how much the sound system cost, but I do remember trying really really hard to justify the price. Totally worth it though.

Mine would have to be my Logitech G25 Racing Wheel - it works great on my PC and PS3, now if only it would work on my 360 as well...

Well, okay, if we're counting surround sound setups, that would be more expensive than the G25. I didn't get that just for games though.

the controller rig for Steel Battalion for Xbox. easily over 200USD.
That looks awesome!

I'm a huge cheapskate when it comes to gaming peripherals. I think my keyboard and mouse together cost maybe ?20, and I'm often surprised when people pay more. Keyboards especially seem a little pointless to me, because as far as I can tell the biggest difference they make are in the number of extra hotkeys they have, but I don't see why you need that when most games don't come close to utilizing all of the keys that you already have. As for the mouse: Let's just say that when I lose I don't think the precision etc. of my mouse is to blame.

A while back I did buy a Thrustmaster Run'N'Drive 3-in-1 Rumble Force controller:

I kind of regret not just getting an Xbox controller though, because I rarely use the extra functionality on the Thrustmaster, it's not very high quality, and it doesn't get recognized by games.

PS2 controller, maybe?

I'm just waiting for someone to link one of the Steel Battalion controllers, honestly.

Edit: I am apparently blind.

does this count? [http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&pq=gaming+mouse&xhr=t&q=monitor&cp=6&safe=off&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=696&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=14023784242054265979&sa=X&ei=APrdTZvDBMnfiALY4uHaCg&sqi=2&ved=0CGQQ8wIwAg]

I know it isn't just for gaming and I am probably cheating but it is almost a thousand bucks. I am too lazy to hunt down anything more expensive.

Yep, same for me. Almost the exact same except for a different Street Fighter IV design. I agree, this peripheral has brought me more joy than any other I have bought, even if it did mean having to learn to play again it was worth that and the price.

Well that 'I' bought for gaming is a 50 dollar mouse, a 50 dollar key board and dollar mouse pad, I also bought a crap ton of Ds styluses because I lose them like crazy. Of course I found deal on all these times so I got 100 styluses for 4 bucks, the keyboard for 20, they mouse for 30 and the mouse pad for 25 cents, because I would NEVER pay full price >_>
The most expensive thing I've seen was a chair at ten thousand dollars which included a mini fridge, a TV, a spot for three consoles, a shelf for games, a blinder thing, and a surge protector... along with some other things I don't remember but looked sweet... It was less a chair and more a miniturized home entertainment room/eggshell thingy..
