if I had to pick it would be the ending to metro 2033 (the book)it was a very saddening ending but for some reason I loved it because it wasn't your average happy ending type book, but it was russian so it's a different style but I like trying different things

PS:I love the game and the book but the book is better

I watched End of Evangelion when I was thirteen...

It... changed me... I can't explain it, but man, that is one fucked up end of a show.

Yes, I did understand it in its entirety at the time too.

EDIT: And, because I must...

If you are hugged, you turn to tang. It's as simple as that. Yeah, EoE probably takes the cake. I'd post an image of it, but there are children who still have happy lives here. ...The fools.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot. *Hug*

The Bridge to Terabithia. I swear the whole point of that book is to take children's dreams and crush them.

That entire series mind-raped me when I was younger...

I'd have to say the end of Ender's Game, yes everyone on The Escapist knows the ending and I knew the ending when I read it last year but it still was quite powerful. The sequels to Ender's Game kinds sucked in my opinion though...

Very true (for both versions), but what's really interesting is to compare the beginning to the end, and figure out just how the fuck you got there. Seriously, you end up in a completely different place at the end, but you never really notice as things start to escalate. Just like the members of Project Mayhem, you fail to notice the subtle change from an underground boxing club on the weekends, to a full-on terrorist group. If you can't tell yet, I'm essentially saying: This^

Funny that it should be me that you quote when you say that, because I've never even picked up a copy of Ender's Game. Let alone read one.

Throw one more book up on the list of books to read... Sigh... I start one and six more are added on.

I'm going to go with Hackel's Tale... Just because... well... every single fiber of that movie is fucked up. I am a Clive Barker fan, but... Hackel's Tale just went too far... like way too far... and it had no redeeming values. Let's just say it involved a zombie orgy and the "surprise" end involved a zombie baby. I just felt dirty after watching that movie... and I'm going to go so far as to suggest that no one watch it... ever.

The Mist. Seriously, if he just waited five minutes everything would have been okay. Also, that person you thought was dead? She's alive and she was right. Hope that wasn't very spoilery.

The ending of Dead silance was pretty fucked up and there is another one which can't remeber it's name but it ended with this lasts child being possessed by a dead child and the lady was dead and then this man came and I think she went crazy from endless torture.

Have you never seen Dead Alive(or Brain Dead, apparently)? A zombie orgy is not the ending, that's just a minor plot point!! But the most messed up ENDING would be The Mist, with Thomas Jane. At the end of that, it just blows my mind.

In the back of my edition of the book, the author says that the original fight club he wrote was a short story that became chapter six. he then goes on to say that to make his short story into a book, he added every story his friends could tell him. one friend splicing porn into home movies, another that pissed in soups at restaurants, that kind of thing.

when i learned that, i went through again and some of the continuity hiccups made sense. especially chapter six, because on my first read-through i didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. on my second (after reading from the back of the book), i realized it really didnt fit in with the rest.

The Descent's ending creeped me out, though End of Evangelion takes the cake as far as truly horrifying and depressing endings go. Then there's Grave of the Fireflies... While quite realistic and expected, it still hits hard.

On a less serious note, and also from Japan, there was a soap opera my Japanese teacher showed us on a slow day. Essentially ends with a man giving his eyes to the woman that he loves because she's about to go blind, then he goes to her wedding to ANOTHER man, blind as a bat.

Ah you bastard, Ninja'd.

Yeah, The Mist had, by far, the most messed up ending to anything I've ever seen/read/played. It came right the hell out of no where, and I actually thought it made the movie stronger for it.
