Outrun 2 is an old racing game (origianlly arcade but also on pc and amiga).

OOT and Mario 64 for services to the 3rd dimension, until that point Sega had that bug game, and that was 3d, lulz.

currently the Wii is pretty influential, and the DS, its getting everyone playing... even grandparents.

Also the original Mario was very influential, the floaty physics of the jumping was originally a bug, but miyamoto found it fun, every game since has that "float" point at the apex of a jumping... it makes it more random and fun.

edit, and outrun was THE racing game of the early nineties, until Ridge Racer fully 3d textured in the arcades came out, complete with FULL FUCKING car you sit in to race with a huge screen, until then. OUTRUN WAS RACING.

I think they should have included Doom at least in the top 3. The original Doom while not being the first FPS helped solidify the genre as a valid form of gaming....I call that influential

I for one don't believe you can make a comprehensive list of influential games. Most of the games on your list only apply to platformers, FPS', RTS' and racers. Plus you look biased to games everyone has played so your list fails on 2 faults.

I'd agree that Mario Kart should be up there, no.1 maybe not, top ten def! Personally i think Resident Evil 4 should be top spot, tho FF7 and Cod4 should be higher!
