I just want to see everyone's opinions on what they thought was the most overrated game of 2010 and the most underrated, and why?

Overrated has to be Black Ops...All my house mates rave on about it like it's the gaming version of Ben-Hur and none of them have even started the campaign...the campaign is just like MW2 in the sense that it is over the top American patriotism where storyline and character development have been replaced by explosions

Underrated has to be Heavy Rain...Although it wasn't overlooked and had no replay value it had such a great story that everyone in my flat that even the girls wouldn't let me play it without them watching...we were actually having discussions over dinner about who we thought the killer was...

so what are you're choices?

I can't really say it's under rated since it has been getting more popular and less obscure over the years, but my favorite game of 2010 was Persona 3 Portable

Underrated :

-Metro 2033 : Most media outlets overlooked that game because of the usual constraints (basically, the review needs to be online as soon as possible, and the reviewer was not necessarly eager to play the game in the first place). But it is a game that shows some brilliance (and some issues too) when played several times.
I won't go into the details here, but this interesting article mentions some of them : http://exitwarp.blogspot.com/2010/10/novus-homo-thoughts-on-metro-2033.html

-Fallout : New Vegas : It was well received, but its poor graphics and its similarity with Fallout 3 lead most people to overlook it. For me, it's the best RPG of the year (Mass Effect 2 may be a better game overall, but it's not that good as an RPG) and one of the best RPGs in recent years. Unlike in Fallout 3, you can choose to join any faction you want. It is a way better game as far as freedom of choice goes, as you can do pretty much anything you want and still get to the end. Plus, there are a lot of different gameplay styles available depending on your orientations, and the numerous quests are far more diverse and original than in Fallout 3 or in most RPGs for that matter. Plus, the universe is interesting and mature, it's very well written. In short : it's a new true Fallout game that manages to move the RPG genre forward. I think it should have been nominated for Game of the Year. No less. But is was overlooked.

Overrated has to be Black Ops, AC: Brotherhood, and Epic Mickey.

Underrated is a bit harder to define, due to my limited amount of disposable income. So I'll say Alpha Protocol. It is broken as shit, but it tried something new, and involved three different flavors of jackass to play as.

Underrated?

I want to say Tron: Evolution. I love this game, the online is fun, the detail in the game is superb and far exceeds my expectations for it, but it has such low reviews and negative concoctions surrounding it being a movie-based game, but it's really fun and great. Yeah it's nothing spectacular and online may be a little one-sided based on host, but it's still a lot of fun, I've beaten the main story about three times, going for all the trophies.

Overrated?

Call of Duty: Black Ops. Mostly the PS3 version, but really, the game is Call of Duty, of course it's highly rated, well-received, but the glitches and problems it has just, it really kind of hurts the game. The patches help a lot, but at the same time it just...ugh.

Overrated: Minecraft. Fun little game, but it's not the Second Coming. It's success owes more to the stagnant state of the industry than any inherent quality.

Underrated: Dunno. Nothing much struck me as a jewel in the dreck.
