Alright I think I can safely bet my future first born that everyone hear likes video games, right? We all have different tastes, favorite characters, levels we hate, best weapons, annoying sidekicks, blah, blah, and more blah.

Now we all know of video game arguments. I mean arguments about video game characters, levels, items, story, gameplay, and other aspects of a video game or franchise that are just so utterly pointless and stupid to hear. I mean one mention of a certain topic will send forums or friendly chats into a blazing flame war of fanboyism that should honestly go make-out with a gun barrel.

So hear is the thread: What is the Most Ridiculous Video Game-Related Argument you've ever heard?

Now I'm gonna be light-hearted and post an old argument that annoys me more than Navi with a mega phone.

Eggman VS Dr.Robotnik Debate

Sonic Fans: This has got to stop. WHY? Some wish to keep his original title of Eggman while others call him 'Dr.Robotnik' and this is where controversy meets debate. It was funny at first, but now its annoying. Can't we just pick a name for this villain and keep it? Why not argue about ways you can save your favorite Blue Hedgehog franchise from going the way of Old Yeller (which is increasingly preferred amongst the majority of gamers).

Anyway, lets hear them.

My friend and I used to argue about 360 and PS3 heaps a couple of years ago because, you know, why not? Funny thing is I didn't even have a 360 and he had a PS3, so my arguments were always invalid but he didn't realise that I was absolutely taking the piss

It was between a Halo fan and a CoD fan, both thought their game was superior and both flamed for HOURS on a public chat. If I can recall correctly, one segment of this conversation was:

"Halo sucks because it doesn't have customization!"

"CoD sucks because you play it!"

"Your mom!"

Seriously, I wanted to kill them both, and before I did it, I'd be the violent mediator, claiming that Halo 3 was good for awhile, but once CoD 4 came in, it became obsolete. Then I'd stab the Halo freak with a CoD knife, and the CoD freak with the energy sword. It would have been epic, too bad you can't do that over the internet.

My favourite recently is a beautiful bit of lunacy where a guy on my team playing Halo 3 was constantly berating me for being an elite and accusing me of trying to 'wipe out humanity' and that I was 'a split faced son of a ***** unworthy to live' and that he 'couldn't wait to genocide my entire race because humanity will own your scaly asses'. I've already mentioned it before but this guy seemed to really think the Halo war actually happened and therefore I can think of no argument more crazy then that one.

I mean come on, like humanity would have a chance against the elites....

The time my friend asked if I liked Halo. I replied with a simple "no" and he started freaking out and asking, in a very hysteric voice, "What?! What's the matter with you? How can you hate Halo?!!"

"I didn't say I hated it, I just don't like it. Its boring to me and I don't think it deserves the praise it gets"

"Oh, you don't know anything about a good game. You just play anything critics like"

What the fuck? That came out of no where and the conversation ended when he finally gave up. If I only played what critics like, I'd be playing Halo. Critics love Halo and I don't, I've already won so just shut up

For me it has to be when people tell me that Final Fantasy sucks and I'm a fool for being somewhat obsessed with it.

Now I'm not saying that everyone has to like Final Fantasy or jrpgs in general but as you said everyone has their different tastes, likes different elements in a game but somehow the things I love about a game (i.e anything that comes in an ff game) is wrong. It really does my head in. Even someone who hates FF surely can't say it sucks when it has the huge fanbase that it does.
