Most satisfying noise in a game.

This seems like it'd have been done before, but the search turned up nothing.

Anywho.

What is the most pleasing thing you have ever heard, in a game? It can be any noise, from any game, so long as it gave you that fuzzy, happy feeling. For me it is the sound striders, from Half Life 2, make when they died. The muffled "vhoooooooo, broo-broo-broo-broo" followed by a crash, always made me smile.

And while you're at it, why not give us your "Oh, Shit!" noise too? Your moment of alarm, your climax of surprise, and the noise that induces it. Mine is the noise those damned monkeys make in System Shock 2 they just.... they just freak me right the hell out.

I use to spend hours mowing down people with the tank on the runway in GoldenEye. Such a satisfying squish sound that never got old.

And the worst would probably be the sound of grenades in CoD4.

Most satisfying? The AK sound from CS or CS:S. It is one of the only games I have played in which the guns sound like guns, and not like someone tapping a tin can (I'm looking at you, Doom 3/Quake 4).

I find that sort of "whoosh" sound of Sprint Mode being activated in Half-Life 2 very satisfying.

Also, I really like the sound of snow underfoot. I think The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess nailed it best.

As far as worst goes, I have to go with the sound of bones snapping when you fall from too high in Team Fortress 2. Man, with sounds that graphic, you can really feel the pain of your Achilles tendon ripping in half.

I love the sound of enemy units exploding under the hail of your cannons in Advance Wars games. And my "oh shit" noise, as it was so eloquently put, is the sound that guards make when they notice you in the MGS series. x3

And that level-up ping in Diablo 2. The sound itself is not outstanding, but it's so satisfying to hear.
