What is/are the most unnecessary game(s) you've played? They might not be bad games per se, just more than what was needed. First ones I can think of are Chrono Trigger DS and No More Heroes 2. They're not bad at all, but we didn't need another port of Chrono Trigger, and No MOre Heroes ended so perfectly that a sequel was pointless.

All opinions welcome, feel free to jump in!

More or less ANY movie-based games. And most super-hero games, and to be clear I am NOT including Batman: Arkham Asylum in this :>

It annoys the hell out of me that the big bosses have to push for a release at the same time (more or less) as the latest popcorn flick to earn some quick bucks instead of spending the time and resources necessary and actually making a good game. There is TONS of potential in movie-games but its almost never realized.

I found FFX-2 unnecessary. Final Fantasy 10 should end where it ends. But, this didn't stop me from spending 120 hours on the game to get 100 percent. Why the hell I did this I don't know why.
It was still a fun game. It was unnecessary, but I had a lot of fun with it.

OT: All of the Wii-Shovelware. It's all there just for a quick cash grab with minimum effort. As one of my favorite people once said in regards to them, "By if you hate your family"

Ugh. Don't need to. Had a roommate at the time who got all three of those things.

Add in the old 7up game and any game where the product placement is the game itself.

However, one that does come to mind is FEAR 2. Not only did it not introduce anything new to franchise (aside from an utterly useless cover system and incredibly underwellming mech sections) the story was dumber, the characters were more cliched and unbareable, the gameplay was more repeditive, and the horror aspects were cheesier and more "BOO!" oriented than ever. Pretty much the only incentive of developing the game was "Hey! People'll buy it!".

I've never played it but there's a little bucketload of failure called "Desert Bus".

Left 4 Dead 2. Sure it added some new zombies, melee weapons, and so on, but the rest was just about the same.

From what I've seen of the F.E.A.R 3 trailer, F.E.A.R 2. What I gather is that all that game added to the story was how whatsername got knocked up. Do you really need a whole goddamn game to show how some ghost tart got knocked up?
