We all ***** when our favorite books get massacred by Hollywood, I can think of 10 off the top of my head, we all can. But can anyone think of a movie that you found more enjoyable then the books they originate from?

I know I'm probably gonna get bitched at but in my own personal experience I found the Lord of the Rings movies much more enjoyable then the books. I enjoyed the books especially The Two Towers. But I loved the movies so much more. Does anyone else have an example that is in their own opinion?

Oh and please refrain from calling me names ;)

All's Quiet on the Western Front.
Arguably Catch-22. (The book and movie are pretty much even.)

That's about all I can think of.

Fight Club. I haven't read the book yet (I've been meaning to get around to it though) but even the author of the book said that the movie was better so I'm just going to have to take his word on it.

Lord of the Rings was more approachable as a movie (But not better). Thats about the closest I can come to it.

No Country for Old Men would have been equal with the book if the movie had ended 15 minutes earlier.

I think Jurassic Park was a way better movie than the book was. I remember trying to read it when I was a kid and thought it was not fun to read it.

American Psycho.

The book had more in it, but it was so bogged down by the over-the-top descriptions in EVERY SINGLE SCENE! Yes, I understand that it was representative of Bateman's psyche. That doesn't make it any less tedious, irritating or boring to read. I'm sorry, I don't give a shit what your friend (or casual acquaintance) is wearing.

The movie removed most of that, and kept the rest how it was. The music also helped.

I'd have to say LotR, only because reading the books is like a brick wall with the insane detail that the book goes into describing EVERYTHING.

Really? The 6 minutes of the movie I watched were of Bateman obsessing over one business card. Seemed like a good concept... have to watch that movie sometime...

I am Legend (Will Smith)

I really liked how they just used the book as a inspiration rather than completely ripping it off...

The book is that, but him obsessing over EVERYTHING. He describes EVERYONE'S outfit, to perfect detail. The movie does stay sort of true to the book, and it's not very inventive script-wise, like Fight Club was, but I was glad that they cut down so much on the tedium.

And yeah, Bateman is fucked in the head, so when it comes to reading a representation of his thoughts, it becomes a chore. At least in the movie it goes at a constant pace.

The only two I think were better than the book were V for Vendetta and Shawshank Redemption. Although Shawshank Redemption is a short story so I'm not sure if it counts.

A Clockwork Orange. There was nothing wrong with the book by any means, however the nadsat dialogue was used a lot more and often the plot flow would be broken up by constantly having to flip to the translation section at the back. Whereas watching the film you start to get used to what the different slang words mean after about half an hour. Plus it was directed by Stanley Kubrick so... well it speaks for itself.

I disagree, completely and utterly. I won't bore you with why, or my feelings on your opinion. I just wanted you to know that I do not agree with your opinion, not one bit.
No problems here sir ^^

Wow, you're the first person I've heard who read the book and still liked the movie. I Am Legend got the same treatment as I Robot: Movies based on good stories with the heart and soul ripped out and replaced by Will "aw hell naw" Smith on autopilot.
