I have both an xbox and ps3 and would like to play some of the more hardcore games like street fighter, ultimate mvc3, etc. I already own mw3 and battlefield 3 for xbox but I feel like I am playing the really hardcore crowd, since there are probably more gamers with xbox than ps3. I have been told by friends who own ps3 and mw3 or battlefield 3 that the players who play multiplayer on ps3 are not as hardcore as xbox players. I have felt a different experience when I play multiplayer games on ps3 like killzone 3 or uncharted 3 but those are just ps3 only games. Would the multplayer be more hardcore for ps3 only games if there was an xbox version? Would my luck be better playing the traditional hardcore games on the ps3?

You really can't play against the "hardcore crowd" unless the GAME itself has a room system. Most games are all matchmaking so you are being matched up with random players, some good some bad. Right now, I can go on Metal Gear Online and play in a high level room against the very best players because the game has a room system. I think the PS3 is used more in the fighting game crowd than the 360 crowd though, and I believe it's the other way around for shooters.
