i like all kinds, because i was raised in a musical family. So I respect all genres. (Yes, even that one.)

but most of my collection is based in punk/ska/classic rock, thats just what I like the best.

Proetty much any kind except rap where every other word is censored. And classical, though thats more of a mood preference.

However, I'm always in the mood for Grunge, Rock, Alt. Rock, and 90s rock. Mostly cause thats my generation's music, and its what I grew up with. Plus Grunge has got me through some really tough times.

EDIT:
<spoiler=This song in particular has saved my life><youtube=ODTv9Lt5WYs>

Personally, I like *nearly* everything from NOFX to Behemoth, Big Chocolate to Frank Sinatra. Generally everything in each genre, I just have to the find the right sound.

Preferable choice- Melodic Death Metal.

Runner up choices- Flamenco, Bagpipes, and classical orchestras.

And I can accept anything else.

Except bluegrass.

f*cking bluegrass...

Eh...I don't really care much about genres, and could likely find an artist from each one that I like.

Although I've noticed lately that I actually do like Pop a fair bit...yeah, I'm surprised by that too.

I'm a huge fan of Grunge rock, Progressive Rock, and Psychedelia/Shoegaze.

With regards to the three genres, my favorites are Nirvana/Alice in Chains, Porcupine Tree/Pink Floyd, and More Pink Floyd/The Verve

I mostly listen to a variety of metal such as (but not limited to): Progressive, power, nu, and metalcore.

I recently started getting into a little more classical music though.

My favorite music is actually oddly specific, in that I like metal music but not black metal, death metal, christian metal or any other metal that contains "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRR" as more than half of their lyrics. I also like David Bowie, but I'm not sure it's for his style of music, I just like a few select songs and it's mostly because he IS David Bowie.
I listen to My Chemical Romance, AFI, Linkin Park and The Used, which I guess qualifies me as "emo" but all their new music sucks.

So really I guess that I like everything that DOESN'T fall into the massive void of music that I hate...... also I love Tool (The band)

Let's see....Classical has to go on here, cause I'm training to become an opera singer someday.
Jazz- I love hearing the sound of the authentic recordings of the old Big Bands (Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, etc.)
Metal- I'm not picky here, I love all kinds of metal. I don't distinguish. I acknowledge that they're there, but nothing more.
Besides that, it's pretty much general like, apathy or dislike.

I like most music, just not pop, techno, most of rap and anything popular in Mexico.

When I was in secondary I tended to listen a lot of metal and posthardcore music, just because I needed something to be able to stand all the fucked things that took place.

Now I tend to listen to classical music (particularly the works of Rachmaninov, my favorite composer) and a lot of post rock.

Rap. I like mostly every thing except country and religious rock though, just on a rap hook at the moment.

And when I say I like rap I am talking meaningful rap. Yeah its Eminem but some of his stuff is very deep. You can't listen to this and not get goose bumps.

Anything that moves.

Hm? Doesn't make sense? Of course it doesn't; I didn't say shit.

Usually anything with a detectable degree of emotion. Something that speaks with or without lyrics. The Beatles (hah, even though I came in two or three--not really counting--generations late) are one of my favourite bands just for this reason. Blackbird, Good Day Sunshine and Michelle are great examples. Try listening to them without paying attention to the lyrics, there's still a lot of feeling and a very visible meaning.

Failing that, Indie Rock is probably the genre from which most of my other favourite bands stem, probably because it's similar to the old pop rock in a lot of ways. At least, the songs I listen to are.

I can also go for some alternative, punk rock, jazz and similar genres, and even some of that weird 70's-80's goth stuff (mostly Bauhaus) if I'm in the mood for a quiet laugh.

It's so weird it's funny.

I have eclectic tastes. I listen to a bit of everything. Country, Rock, Folk, Opera, Techno, Hip Hip, Soul etc. I have to say I could never listen to Heavy Metal though.
