This is a chance to share some of your favorite music groups or singers that may be unfamiliar with other people all around the world on the Escapist. They could be a local band or a completely foreign group or singer.

Example: Up from Under. They are in the USA and are local to me in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They play a more mild rock and you can find them on I Tunes. Check them out!

So share with your fellow Escapist and who knows you might find someone else that is a fan of the same group as you.

I would have to go with the band "Bulletproof Messenger". Lesser known but they always get me in a rocking mood. If I could find their albums I'd buy them in an instant (Alas, no online purchasing for me)

That Handsome Devil- They're hard to explain... their kind of... I dunno what to say...<.<

Dinosaur Jr.- Basically the pioneers of Alternative and grunge from 1984...

The Electric Six- Once again they're hard to explain... I guess they're sort of, kind of, a Punk, Disco, Funk, New Wave, Alternative thing going on...<.<

Sonata Arctica is brilliant.

They may be somewhat known here or among nerds or serious music listeners, but basically no one I come into contact with on my day to day knows them.

High on Fire. Like Motörhead smoked a lot if pot and boned Slayer. And then the singer ate 5 packs of cigarettes a day. For a decade.

Also, I love that my iPhone added the umlaut to Motörhead. Evidently Apple knows Lemmy is God.

Chefs of Hell are decent, but I bet not a single user of The Escapist has heard of them =3. From my home town have no officially released anythings...

I know this is way off topic, but why is it always written or said like that? Is there by chance some other Oklahoma City in Wisconsin that warrants the Oklahoma at the end? Thanks for clearing that up ^^.

Unia is my favorite album. Ever.

OT: I'm going to post some I Am The Ocean. They're so unknown, its sickening.

And my two defaults for threads like this. Emilie Autumn.

And Closure in Moscow.

There we go. Enjoy anybody.

Zechs Marquise, they are this instrumental band from Texas, I don't remember where, but they have this experimental jazz sound to them.

HOLY CRAP MINE TOO! (http://www.last.fm/user/Taerdin - if you go there you will notice an album collage of my most listened to albums. The larger they are the more listens and Unia is HUGE)

I wish I could meet people with good taste outside the internet...

IDK. The city or town is always placed before the state. Growing up here we were always taught to address it as that. We Oklahomans also are the only people who refer to the name coke as just an other way of asking what kind of pop would you like. And no I have never met a real indian, worn a ten gallon hat, live in a tea pee or own a buffalo. These are questions retards ask me from other states.

Oingo Boingo. No-one I know, besides my family, know who they are. New Wave, and unashamed of the fact.
EDIT: See the lead singer? That's Danny Elfman [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Elfman], composer of The Simpsons theme song among MANY others.

Nice to find another Sonata fan who doesn't feel Unia was a step in the wrong direction for the band. Unfortunately, a large amount of the fanbase thinks that. Personally, I think the band is a thousand times more talented with a Progressive Metal sound over Power Metal. I love past Sonata with a passion, don't get me wrong. But Unia was just so damn perfect. I can't not listen to "My Dream Is But A Drop Of Fuel For A Nightmare", "Caleb", or "Fly With the Black Swan" without just being in complete awe of what this band is capable of.

I'll post the band that I always post in these threads since discovering them

Great band and they have better songs than this imo, but I posted this one because its their only music video that I'm aware of. Definitely go check them out if you like alternative rock.

Uh... So I take it Oklahoma has/had a lot of Indians? Apologize if I'm not too good on my American geography, I know the rough placements of the various states but that's all... I bet you couldn't place a single Norwegian county on an empty map if I did a pop quiz tho, so it's justified! XD

Yes, I am a Viking woman. I DO carry a broad sword everywhere I go, and YES my slaves are Irish. Now if you excuse me I have to head down to my tribes longship, cause we got to go to England for work.

I haven't heard much Sonata Arctica because my friend only just introduced me to them, but I really like what I've heard so far. Just checked out the three songs you mentioned and I really like Caleb.

Bloc Party. They are a UK band, and more generally known there, but in the states, they are mostly unheard of. My favorite band though.

Queen!

Cause no one knows of them, right?

Actually, Atlas Plug. Not a favorite or anything but are under the radar a bit and I liked them, first heard em in Crackdown 1 OST.
