I'm not trying to come off as hipster, because I do enjoy a lot of mainstream stuff, but I also love stuff that is different. The best example is the new Metallica album, Lulu. It's a strange album with spoken word and almost doom metal like riffs (from what I've listen to). Also a good example is The Mars Volta, which none of my friends can stand, but I love it.

Anyone else feel like the hipster kid in your friends?

Have you listened to Acid Bath? The lyrical content has a lot of meaning and emotion and instrumentally it combines death metal/doom metal/stoner metal.

I'm not self centered enough, especially in the age of the internet, to think 'why am I the only person who likes this music', but this thread gives me the chance to plug my favorite band.

More mainstream than they were two albums ago, but haven't let their success influence their work in a negative way.

Enter Shikari. A great post-hardcore sound and dubstep (the good kind of dubstep, not WUBWUBWUB for 3 minutes).

I'm really digging this, any other song suggestions?
