I just started watching Elfen Lied, and was very moved by the opening theme. I have never felt these kinds of emotions from a song before.
Do not watch the video portion if you have not seen the show, just the music.

Have any songs ever affected you very deeply?

It probably helps I have cherished memories set to these songs, but whatever

I just posted this in the 'what music do you want on your funeral' thread yesterday, but this song is awesome enough to post several times:
It's 'Von' by Sigur Rós, which means 'Hope'. This is the first song by them I ever heard and since then they are one of my favorite bands.
Because they sing in Icelandic or in their own made up language (you won't hear the difference though) the music gets a magical touch.

If you want more:
This is Heima, meaning Home:
This is Heysatan, which is Icelandic for haystack (not hello Satan):
And Hafsol:
Ignore the kittens...

For touching music, I listen to a bit of stuff, Runrig - Abhainn An T-sluaigh / The Crowded River. that song expecially, but most of the "The Big Wheel" album is amazing by runrig if you hadn't noticed the name.

Other stuff like Lebensessenz, the song glacial horizon to be more specific beautiful solo piano.

Also, Yann Tiersen's Rue Des Cascades is a masterpiece :')
