I was wondering what do you listen to when you play video games. If you want a specific game, then focus on Counter Strike: Source for music. I like pumping techno/rave personally. Unfortunately I don't have any pumping techno/rave. Do you have some?

Aside from basic platformers, puzzle games, etc., I rarely game while listening to music. Games are immersive, cumulative experiences which require involvement of both the eyes and ears to fully appreciate.

I like some Foo Fighters for counterstrike, but megadeth is awesome for it as well. Nothing like "Kill the king!" Pounding in your ears as you frag some poor newbs.

For TF2 I don't play music because I use surround sound headphones and need to hear the footsteps.

Most of the time I don't listen to music while playing a game, but when I do it's usually metal or classical music like O Fortuna

Strauss, Bizet, and Tchaikovsky. Big 19th-century romantic period overtures, most of it ganked from the Victoria:Revolutions soundtrack.

When I'm just not in the mood for classical music I tend to go with a Pandora Radio station I built off of AC/DC ("Turn it Up to Eleven", for those of you with PR.)

Vivaldi and Tchiakovsky for FPS. It keeps my mind stable. With the exception to Quake, which i play Korn.

Coldplay and "Building the Cathedral" for Eve-Online.
I listen to online radio while playing WoW.
X3: Reunion calls out "listen to completely random songs on shuffle!"

I used to play Final Fantasy Tactics with Ray Stevens music. Now every time I either play Ray Stevens or FFT, I reflexively think about the other.

I listen to Banana Phone by Raffi...

...While playing scary games I swear! I can't play them otherwise because I get too easily scared...

but now I'm starting to get scared by banana phone...

When I played WoW I used to farm terocone to the dulcet tones of Modeselektor (and other equally offensive electro). Thems were the days.

To be honest i don't use music in most FPS games. Sound is far too valuable a tool.
Only if you honestly care about your score but i tend to do better when i just don't care rather then focusing as hard as i can. Probly because trying to hard makes me mad when i fail and when i am mad i play less good.

I change my game music, i need a happy or fun music that i can sing to in my head for MMO, Electric Six

for RTS i usualy have a soundtrack on or just listen to the games music itself (C&C music is awesome)

FPS i'll have either the soundtrack to Gurren Lagann or some kinda soft techno music going so i don't lose my head in a video game.

I listen to the game's soundtrack, or if I don't like said soundtrack, my collection of Barenaked Ladies + Vidjagaem Music.

That's right. When I game, I listen to music from other games.

Nah, it's not that i care too much about my score, i just like to beat everyone else. I don't put any more effort in, i just play. It's just you can hear better, you'll perform a bit better

It's about using all the tools to win. When i don't need my senses so much, like in RTS which will give a minimap warning when under attack usually i'll play music.

I'm just a competitive person. I play to win. I tend to get annoyed with people who play with no clue, i don't mind if people aren't good. Play with the team, do the objective and win. I get annoyed with dead weight, WoW is fairly famous for the play for the lose attitude.
I guess i have that "Don't care attitude"... I've been gaming for more then half my life though so i guess i have developed the skill to play music and ignore the FPS sounds and still do just as good as everyone else..(not bragging). I play with a lot of competitive friends so I know what you're talking about. I guess i just have the play for the fun attitude.

I have about 12gigabytes of songs so I just let the list play on through as I play my games. Any techno, rock or trance is fine for gaming.

I listen to just about every type of music available, but I often try to get 'slower' music with 'slower' games, and 'faster' music in 'faster' games.

Opera in an RTS
Metal in an FPS

I've also got this [http://classicfm.nl/] for when I first play a new game because it, in my opinion, fits well with just about every game. I also have a few movies with songs in them for windowed online RPGs so I control what I'm listening to.(the link is for a Dutch site, if you want to hear the music, it's the "Luister Live" button, if it works for non-Dutch visitors)
