What kind of music do you listen too in-game?

Maybe when your playing an FPS your jamming too Alternative Post-Hardcore World Funk, mixed with a little Speed Country Grundge?

Or you could possibly be playing your favourite MMORPG and your just chilling to the in-game sounds and tunes?

A Capella
Punk
J-Pop
Techno
Ambient
Blues
Black Metal
Goth Metal
Thrash
Folk
Grind
Melodic
Christian
Dance
Electronic
Hip Hop
The list goes on and on......

Share your musical know-how with the other Escapist's, may it be an artist or genre, even a new kind that you have invented.
Im excited to hear what could come from this hehe =P

You mean when I'm playing music that's not part of the game while playing?

Symphonic Metal.
Metal.
Heavy Metal.
Random Japanese music.
Epic soundtracks.
The hilarious lyrics of 'Voltaire'

Just all the stuff I normally listen to..

Drum n' Bass helps greatly while playing FPS titles online. No idea why, I just naturally seem to find a rhythm to it. This song is an all-time favorite of mine when I fire up Counter-Strike.

Aside from that, it's the standard assortment of Metal, Jazz and Rock.

...I would assume you mean "grunge", not "grundge".

Usually I would listen to some upbeat manly hard/classic rock or shred, ie Deep Purple, Poison, Rainbow, Tesla, AC/DC, Paul Gilbert, Racer X, Van Halen, etc.

I can't listen to music when playing games so it's either in-game music or sounds for me.

Folkloric or Classical music,
or some 80's music:
check out, Shamall, Shannon, "FREEEZ - I.O.U. extended remix, Prodomo - Convoy, Haddaway, YAZOO
and such

Because nothing beats the 80's optimism !

I usually just listen to the music in game.
Same here. Why would I want to listen to something while I'm trying to concentrate on the game?

I think listening to music during a game is a bit like listening to an iPod when watching a movie.

Music is an integral part of the experience and can completely change any part of a game's tone, feel, mood, or even evoke emotion.

Sure maybe some games have nothing going on or really bad music, but it always really bothers me when this is the case. Games have massive budgets and can't hire a composer to make a decent soundtrack? They are really missing out on an element that can elevate a games experience quite effectively.

There some obvious exceptions like sports games
[small]but those aren't real games anyways[/small]

That is almost exactly what I was going to say. Get out of my mind!

Also, I can't concentrate properly in any online game like CoD if there's music playing, so I tend to avoid music or any other distractions (for the sake of my already pretty embarrassing Kill/Death record).

I mainly listen to music in multiplayer games (like WoW, CoD4, etc) or if the soundtrack has nothing going on.

It depends on the gaming I'm playing.

If I'm playing something like ArmA, the music is off.

If I'm playing something like Call of Duty, I usually listen to Be'lakor, Dark The Suns, Before the Dawn, etc.

If I'm playing anything else, it'll probably either be something like Colorpulse or VNV Nation.

I have many songs. I have a whole playlist designated to zombie games...

Mainly, for the epicness of it, I play games with this in the back ground
Okay thanks for that it was awesome.
