Music you surprisingly don't hate

Everyone has a genre of music that they detest. Most people don't want to chance a listen toward a genre they can't stand, but occasionally there is a song within that genre that they like. So escapists, what songs do you enjoy in genres you hate?

For me, I dislike most pop/hiphop and rap songs. Within those genres, I like: Written in the Stars by Tinie Tempah, Lose Yourself by Eminem, and Run This Town by Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Rihanna.

Same here. Normally I'm a metalhead/hard trance lover but I do enjoy Eminem.

I fucking love the Bloodsport soundtrack. It's pure 80s cheese but that theme song IS pretty badass.

A surprising amount of music released by people who were at one point contestants on American Idol, which I despise with a passion (while residing in a household that thinks it's great, argh). At least I can genuinely claim that their being on American Idol had nothing directly to do with why I ended up listening to them, since I inevitably only discover that detail after Pandora turns them up on its own.

Also this song by the Guano Apes - it does so many things that my brain tells me I should hate that I find it genuinely surprising how much I actually like it:

This. I HATE hip-hop/rap/alternative rock/etc. and spend most of my time listening to game soundtracks and good stuff like Miracle of Sound, but I love every time I hear this on the radio (but I really don't listen to the radio much, but oh well).

At least the chorus. The chorus is great. Everything else, not so much. Oh, also the intro, that sounds real nice.

Quite a bit of J-Pop, it's catchy as all hell and I do love the sound of the Japanese language.

I'd have to say pretty much anything to do with dubstep. Given my tastes in music, you'd think I'd just dismiss it as noise, but I actually kind of like it. Then again, I have yet to find a genre that I can't enjoy on some level, especially if I find the better artists within the genre. Also, nyancat. When I first discovered it, I thought it was the dumbest, most ham handedly forced meme of all time. Then I nyaned for over 9,000 seconds while studying for a paper; curse you nyancat, I can't bring myself to hate you.

I love metal and pop. Yeah, arguably the two most polar opposite genres within the popular genre universe. Even weirder, I don't mind many songs that the rest of the non-teenage world seems to despise, like Baby and Friday. Neither will ever be added to my MP3 player, but I don't hate them.

Two songs of the single worst genre in the music industry, "gangsta rap". Individually, the songs are utter shite. But together, mixed like that, there's just something about it. Maybe I'm just a sucker for DJ Hero music, but I just think the song is really entertaining.

This too. Dubstep is a great genre, and is one that I normally would never give a chance.

Actually, the genre of music that I generally detest is country. I don't really listen to it either, so I don't really know many songs that could really, truely be considered country that I like.

I generally don't like dubstep, but when it's a remix of something else sometimes I can't help but really enjoy it.
