MW2/ACB unrecognized disk error, despite them both working on other consoles. Help required!

My MW2 was working no problem until yesterday, unrecognized disk. It was installed on the hardrive, so uninstall/reinstall, play from harddrive, same problem. works fine on another console. Cleared system cache, same problem. Assassins creed B has same problem, will let me install but not play.
The faulty console will allow me to play New vegas and various other games but not these two, so doubtful its a lens problem.
Possible reasons: I do have a chipped/flashed/modded xbox aside from this one and i use the same harddrive for both, so cleared any game saves from chipped games that could cause a malfunction (long shot I know) still same problem. Any reasons/fixes would be most welcome, help a brother out.

negatory, its original, shop bought disks that wont work. as mentioned never had a problem before, and cant think of anything different i did that could have caused it

I had an update to my Xbox yesterday. I guess everyone did too. You might want to check into that.

it was working before the update, i got another update today and it still doesnt work. seriously considering going to the darkside now (ps3)

It could be a problem with the Xbox itself.

Just before my first one RRoD'd, it gave out quite a few disc read error messages.

EDIT: Looking back, that's actually a lie. My one just took multiple tries to recognise that there was indeed a disc in the tray.
