Hey there escapists! Well, since the release of Half-Life 2 for Mac I've been having a great deal of frustration towards all the steam games I've purchased, they have all been fairly laggy and the graphics quality hasn't quite been up to snuff with what I see as reasonable graphics quality, I've pretty much given up hope on these games working the way they were intended to so now I only have one problem; what application should I use to see my games preform at full capacity? There are several different options I know of, bootcamp where I could just install windows, parallels, crossover, etc. I am in need of someone that can give me a detailed suggestion for what would work the best. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

A new computer

Mac's are horrid for gaming dude.

The best bet would be to find a dedicated PC forum with tech heads for a full detailed answer on your best option.
Ah, let's just say a new computer really isn't in the budget.

You might be able to use a lexar as extra RAM or you could defrag a couple times. That's all I've got.

Macbooks and Macs in general (except the Mac tower since you can upgrade the graphics) are gonna be terrible. Their GPUs aren't made for gaming. The best thing to have of Apple is the tower and get a new GPU.

I've been getting great performance out of HL2 as well as Garrys Mod. Maybe its your graphics card. on some macs you can go into the settings and set it to higher performance.
