This isn't a "you must like pony" thread. It's just a relevant topic to make considering the new episode.
This claim is ridiculous and has been given a rebuttal many times. Not that it has to have adult humor for adults to like it(I like children's cartoons in general, I like My Little Pony because it's cute and good. I could care less about this sort of thing, and people who think that something should have anything adult about it to be enjoyed by adults need to grow up themselves). This isn't some silly justification, because liking My Little Pony doesn't need to be justified.
However, I would just like to say that the latest episode piles on even more evidence against that claim. At this point, I'd say that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has more adult humor than the Powerpuff Girls. If not lots more adult humor/references that children wouldn't or shouldn't get.
Which isn't necessary, but does add to the appeal to the show. It's one of many, mind you. And I was reminded of trolls who make the patently false argument that "Powerpuff Girls has adult humor, My Little Pony doesn't".
I present to you, The Big Lebowski Pony:
I don't think it gets much more adult fanservice-y than this. It's over the top.
Also, for the fans: Are you comfortable with this amount of fanservice? A lot of the claims of fanservice were pretty teetery/shaky, and weren't an honest claim about fanservice because we don't know whether the stuff we enjoy was intentional or not. But there's no doubt that can be made that this right here, was pure and utter fanservice.
I, for one, love it. Not because My Little Pony isn't my type of show. I am a worshipper of everything and anything cute and girly. Well, except for the stuff that's made so horribly you can't stand it. But generally cute/adorable is one of my biggest hobbies in life, and I don't need any adult humor to enjoy something like My Little Pony. On the other hand, I don't think fanservice will ruin the show. I think it's things like this that have drawn in a larger audience than just my kind. Which means more people to talk about it with, and more fanworks.
