Hi fellow bronies.
I was just gonna post this on an existing pony thread but not only was it off topic, but kinda a lot of information for just a comment, so I'll leave my comfort zone and try my hand at a thread.
Sorry to those of you sick of the ponies everywhere, but I recommend you take notice as well, the message I'm linking to gives a good message either way.

This was recently posted on Equestria Daily:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jVSBq7f1Col7iTzUdidBTW4or8AP_HBPIqUFvEKyM8I/preview?hl=en&sle=true#

I'm not sure where the writer posted it first, but regardless, some of you have probably already read it.

That's an open letter to the brony community from a concerned brony, and I have to say, it's a good read.
It moved me a bit, and I agree with everything he said, so I'm trying to pass on his message and hard work.
It's a long read, but I assure you, it's well worth it.

So my question to you is, of course, do you agree with what he is saying?
But also, what are your thoughts on the MLP subculture in terms of the friendliness etc. of the people themselves?
And to those who are not part of our culture: Do his words still carry some weight to you? I think what he is saying can, and should, be applied to the everyday lives of everybody.

I have to say i agree that I found the MLP fandom, surprisingly, to have an incredibly welcoming and friendly atmosphere that made me want to hang around. It was nothing like the troll den I expected.
Maybe some more seasoned bronies can shed some light on how the fandom compares now, to the earlier days.

I find the community incredible. Considering this is the internet we are talking about it's amazing that most of the time it remains so friendly and accepting.

The ponies bring out the best in everyone.

I cant say much for its earlier days though, as I have only been a fan for about a month.
Actually exactly a month today......yay

Well than.

Personally I think I may actually be a 'slightly' better person to my friends after a month of watching.

Well I'm trying ok.

Love and tolerance, guys. Let?s not throw that away. We?ve got a good thing going here and I don?t think anyone wants to flush it down the toilet. Let us not revert to the ways of 4chan, or any other major social sites like that. Let us no longer hide behind the anonymity of the internet so we can take shots at other people. That?s not what we are about, right? Let?s tear down the hate.

This guy speaks the truth, and nothing else. I remember in another thread here on The Escapist, someone started trying to troll us, but he got ignored. He tried again, and the same thing happened. And you know what? He (or she, admittedly) stopped.
In other threads, about any other topic, I'm almost certain people would have fallen for his trap. But not us.

We need to keep this up. Spread the love, lose the hate, and remember what we love the show for. ^_^

I'm no brownie and I dislike the fandom, but you've got to admit that man really does stick to his principles. I applaud him for that.

There's so much win fused into that line.

OK, I'm creasing after reading that; major feeling that I'm the lead in a real life Truman Show.

I am impressed by a place that can totally ignore a troll. No matter how obvious a troll is, there's usually someone who feels the need to respond, and it only takes one to feed a troll.

I agree with the usual stuff about tolerance and whatnot, but then again, if it's a MLP related thing, then you have a legitimate reason for excluding things which aren't MLP things.

My brain has trouble comprehending this. A major group of the internet, not just a little community that happens to exist, is respectful and loving. Even the pony section of 4chan. Fucking 4chan! Being loving!

Well to be honest, it is really just the /co board that is into ponies, they aren't as bad as /b. Plus, /b actually banned them on their board.

Well, at least your acceptable of the real product. And that's the least we need to accept.

As for me, I loved the article. It shows that what were into isn't just a fad like a dance, book or song, but something we really like. We are prepared to fight hoof and bit to show the world that we love this show for what it is. All we need now, is togetherness

I clicked on this because I was wondering what was with all the colourful ponies on The Escapist. Figured it was some childish irony. But this is... shit, it's the internet done right, if it can deal with trolls, if it can actually pull off love and tolerance to the extent that the letter suggests it can.

Genuinely heartwarming. That letter is going to stay open in a tab for a while, I think.

But it still must be a hell of a show to even get that out of the fiery pits of hell 4chan.

Faust is undoubtedly one of the greatest children's show creators in history.

Y'know I learned a few days ago she actually worked on the Iron Giant. Don't know how extensively, but that was one memorable and moving movie of my childhood!

She obviously possesses an incredible heart melting ability.

It's kinda surreal to read that while 'Fire in Your Hole' is playing in the background.

And, as a response to the people irritated by all the pony threads, remember half of them are made by people going 'OMG WTF PONIES GAY!'

Though I agree, there are kind of too many threads popping up every day. I wouldn't worry so much though, the first season ends in just over a week so the amount of pony spam you will have to endure will reduce soon enough.

...Probably.

You people aren't a damn culture...

I mean seriously hasn't this shit gone far enough?

There are plenty of series I like and don't devote some sort of creepy cult like attitude towards.

I have an idea for you guys.

For the ones of you who like actually like this show and aren't just in it for this ironic shits and giggles. Why don't you just watch the freaking series, keep your avatars as your PROUD AND BOLD MESSAGE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD and drop this retarded cult you have going?

It's getting really annoying.
Oh you!

Of course, it's not like you can't just not enter pony threads...
