Congratulations! And be very thankful that it's not a guinea pig. Because man, the flood that would be unleashed...

Be careful that they are raised correctly, do not associate hands with food, and that the parents do not eat the children

Oh thank Allah you meant it literally. I thought it was some new piece of youth slang for something horrible.

It broke... And I though that she was fixed.

But I have a friend who wants feeder rats, so I might do that with them...

But I don't know which rat is the daddy, I've got a real handsome blue, and a nice looking hood rat. So I'm excited to see the coloring on the young. But I don't really know what to do with them, I don't want to sell them for food, but I don't think I can handle the extra mouths to feed...

But I'm so happy to get new babies!

Hang on. Slight confusion on the me part. I have heard of pet mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, moles, voles, and other little animals that you keep in a cage, but I was aware that anybody had actual pet rats. Is that common?

Congrats. I hope that your little cuteness (Did you seriously called them ugly? )will grow up to be responsible citizens. Make sure their parents give them their support and love.

For rats... I always see them in pet stores as pets and not as feeders, so I want to say somewhat not that uncommon.

Well, I know that once they're past the pinkie stage they're adorable... But this will be my first lit of rats, so I'll see when they're born.

But Jane (the rat) loves to run in her wheel... Now she's too big and it's funny watching her sit in the wheel.

Don't know about common, but my cousin has had a pet rat for a while now. So not really that weird.

Fairly common. They're called <url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fancy_rat>fancy rats, and they tend to be pretty good pets.

Prefer chinchillas, myself, but rats would be a close second (if I weren't a cat person).

EDIT: ...wait a second, people keep voles and moles as pets?

Now I've got the image of rats with tiny hats and monocles in my head. It's a pretty awesome image, thanks!

It's pretty common, every pet store has them and i owned a few myself, they were pretty smart and playful, they also ruined a bunch of my clothes and ate the internet cable.

Now all that remains is to determine which is in the top percent. Great trainers start from humble beginnings.

Of course. Just imagine a mouse, only they're larger, more streamlined and they travel further when shot from a bow.

It's pretty common, yes. I've got 4 rats myself. They make pretty good pets overall, though their main disadvantage is a short lifespan of usually 3 years. They're a lot like very small, very smart dogs.
