I write regular reviews for my college magazine and I'll be posting them up here and I'd appreciate feedback. This one isn't really about a game, I was only given 24 hours to write this one and didn't have the disposable income to arrange a game in that time so here it is:

*Insert witty welcome here*

Being so short on time for this particular review let's skip the formalities and move on to why people should stop buying bad games.

This is a story about Joe. Joe isn't real, but if you do what Joe does then you deserve to lose your thumbs and live a life of non gaming boredom. To be honest that's not the punishment I had in mind, but the article has to be resonably PG so I'll spare the details.

Joe hears about a game, possibly from an advert for the game, or from a friend who is equally as stupid as Joe, and decides he wants this game. So Joe scuttles off to his nearest game store to purchase said game. When inside he asks the salesman is the game any good? Now if you're in a restaurant have you ever been told the soup could be better? Or it lacked serious effort? Or maybe it's a waste of money? Not a hope, so why would our salesman say anything other than, "Um I heard it got a good reveiw..." or some such other rubbish.

Joe, now at home with his game, his wallet ?50-70 lighter, begins playing. At this point Joe's brain has been so filled with tripe about how good the game is, which has also been re-enforced by it's large price tag, cannot see how stupid his purchase was. He then finishes playing and goes and tells all his friends how great this game is and the cycle goes on...

If you are like Joe, or think there may be a slight possiblilty that you have acted like Joe just did, please stop and think. No matter what people say Call of Duty World at War is not a good game. It's a good game in a whore's old stained dress and you've been told so many times that it's good you go looking for the dressless whore to add her on your bebo, facebook, nimble and all your other 'cool' social networks because you need more people to tell you what you should buy because you're a useless tit. 'Cool' being used sarcastically there of course.

To the people who argue that 'it's an expansion pack' then allow me to provide evidence as to why that's not the case. 1) Expansion packs are always cheaper than the original game, not more expensive. 2) Expansion packs, as the name suggest, expand on the current game, which it does not. 3) On the case for an expansion pack, it clearly states 'EXPANSION PACK' which it does not. Got it?

Ok.........

Sorry if I've offended anybody and if you do think these sort of spin-off, (purely) money making games are good, then just remember that this is just my opinion. And everyone is entitled to an opinion. Your opinion is just wrong.

Hopefully I'll be back next month if I haven't been lynched so until then the games society is on every Monday is the MPC and Tuesdays in 2213. And you can reach me on spa21788@hotmail.com if you need guidance from someone with sense. Til then fellow gamers!

P.S. Congratulations to our 4 competetion winners who will each receive a copy of Left 4 Dead as soon as I get off my ass.

*EDIT* Just after noticing the ratings so um, CODWaW DON'T TOUCH IT!!! and L4D BUY IT!!!

I'm afraid you've lost me in a lot of places. You've spent most of the space here explaining a hypothetical (sort of) situation, and at the end say that Call of Duty: World at War is "not a good game" but rather a "good game in a whore's old stained dress", which is really, quite a confusing statement. It reads out like an angry sort of rant against, how would you say, less informed gamers. My advice for next time would be to actually review a game highlighting it's good and bad points, rather than say it's no good without any justification, and also not to be so condescending to your audience. Keep trying.
