I've been suspended for a week for talking about piracy,
and not been scratched by a mod for mocking ethnicity,

I've been suspended for a low content post,
but only warned for using colorful language I love most,

I've been modded for pointing out a dumb topic,
apparently, if someone makes something completely stupid, you can't mock it,

I've been told to take part in surveys, to win Cash and Video Games!
But if I tried this in the forums I'd earn a ban, does The Escapist know no shame?

I've taken quizzes, watched Zero Punctuation,
listened to Movie Bob and discussed The Nation,

I've read interesting news, I've helped people recover from a bad case of blues,
I've seen topics about cocks, and those dissing Megan Fox,

I've had run ins with mods, and read angry rants about COD,

I've seen The Escapist invaded, upgraded, downsized, re shaded, fire staff, cancel shows, add new ones, sell out, be corrupted, turn Mad in March, crash, tell stories, play games, share news, break hearts, create friendships, rise up and fall down, ban accounts and make new ones, change the way people think, and make others need a drink.

And I got modded for making a topic about balls.

------------------------------------------------------

The Escapist is a lot like Las Vegas, a beautiful dirty city facing constant change and new management, reconstruction and differences in culture.

I might act like I don't like it at times, but, I kinda like it here.

Ah, the Escapist.

You'll find no finer site, I wager.

But, I've always found it a lot more homey than Vegas...

That...was incredibly clever, OP. Good show, my good sir.

And yes, the Escapist is pretty awesome. Sure, we get our share of trolls, but overall it's a great place.

That was fun poem to read and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't a wall of RAGE post as the title misleads one to think.

You're quite the wordsmith good sir. I award you 3 and 2/8th internetz.

So you like it here...Awesome.

I'm glad you've come to this conclusion. I too enjoy this place. I've been here longer than you though, but I've never seen you...Hrmm...Guess I should pay more attention. I've seen Skorpyo though. I thought I'd remember a colorful avatar such as yours too...

Edit: Forgot to compliment your writing skills too ;) Nice Job.

These forums have always been odd. If it weren't for Zero Punctuation i probably wouldn't even come here.

I find it funny how you are generally not aloud to swear when the videos showcased on here (like ZP) have plenty of it. I don't take kindly to being treated like a child after calling someone an "idiot". Very well aware these rules need to be in play to avoid extensive vulgar arguments but still i don't see all that much freedom for anyone over the age of 18.

I will probably be suspended for this post too.

Good work one the poetry I couldn't of done that. And I've seen plenty of threads covered in swears but no attention from the moderators.

I don't think there's a rule in place saying you can't swear? I've been peppering my posts with liberal yet tasteful swearing ever since I joined. I think they ask you try to keep things within a PG-13 to border line R rated vocabulary since the minimum age for sign up is 13yrs old.

Nice poem sir. I guess you could call this place the Las Vegas of the internet. Sure, you'll find the same terrible people but occasionally you'll run into the craziest characters and generally the mods make good decisions.

I'm glad you like the Escapist. I like it quite a bit too.

One major difference- you won't catch nearly as many viruses on the Escapist as you will in Vegas.

the escapist just seems kinda eh TBH, sure extra credits is awesome but then comes along ZP (seriously at this point yahtzee just sounds like someone who rants non stop for 5 minutes)

overall it's okay, but it could do a lot better

I do find the rule against "low content posts" to be rather trivial, but I will save that for later.

The Escapist is a mixed bag for me, at times, it can be as bad as /b/ or /v/, at others, it is shown to be a lot better than most forums on the internet. This, I really do not understand.

Well written my good sir. Rather insightful too. I like it here too. And isn't this the internet? Aren't we allowed to swear? I think as long as it isn't racially charged or so over the top its ok. I am curious to the answer. Any mods reading this?
