The cannonball was supposed to blast through an array of water barrels and a cinderblock wall. Supposed to. Instead it hit the wall, a hill, a house, and Jasbir Gill's Toyota Sienna. Now do you see why they tell you not to try this at home?

The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at an Alameda County Police bomb range adjacent to Santa Rita Jail, about a half mile outside of Dublin. The gun had lifted slightly from its intended position just before it fired, putting the steel round over the water barrels, off the hillside, and 700 yards East. There it bounced through the front door of a home, up the front stairs, through a bedroom?past a sleeping family?out the wall, over a six-lane road, and on through the van's front passenger window. Nobody was injured, though Gill was understandably peeved. "I'm angry and lucky to be alive. Anybody could have been hit by this," he told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Side note: Do they make apology cards for this sort of thing? Like, "Sorry I blew out your windows from a half-mile away" or "I totally didn't think that was plugged in" or "Who expected alligators down there? Not me." They should.

Well I'm sure those were a few awkward conversations. But I'm sure they got a few fat checks and swag out of it, so, all's well that ends well right?

All's well that ends well, pretty much. Nobody was hurt, property can be restored, and now the mythbusters have a very recent reminder to double check their equipment. Would've been fucking hilarious to see it as it flew by, though...

I'm not sure I'd be too mad about that. As long as nobody was injured; they'll most likely pay for the damages and in the end you get an awesome story out of it.

That is simultaneously the most hilarious and most terrifying thing I've heard all day. I'm really not sure how to respond to something like that.

Yikes. Kind of funny, kind of not. You can't really blame the Mythbusters, though. They did it on a bomb range and, as always, accompanied by people whose approval makes it all legal. If there was this danger, the people who let them do the experiment there are at fault.

I wonder, does the guy get to keep the cannonball as a souvenir? That would be awesome.

I quit watching when they did
"Can you make a candle out of earwax like shrek?"

It turned into "Dude, what would happen".

That is hilarious. Doesn't matter what happens in Mythbusters, even if it fails it is awesome. :D
Remember that episode with the head on truck collision? When their phrase was "Failure is always an option"?

Back to the drawing board than

If that happened to me I would be pretty freaked out at first but after I found out what had happened then I would've been okay with it. I mean, MYTHBUSTERS SHOT A CANNONBALL THROUGH YOUR HOUSE. That is fucking awesome and completely hilarious. I would totally watch them do that.

And, I bet the narrator spent have the time blathering on and repeating himself.

Seriously, though, WTF? How do you fuck something like that up?

Ok, yeah, their science is crap, but they are supposed to take the safety seriously at least.

If I was in the house-owners shoes, I probably would have changed shorts, THEN started having a go at them.

But seriously, I am trying to not laugh too hard about it

As sympathetic as I am for the family I hope the show doesn't get too negatively affected by this.

I just have no idea how they will try to explain it on the show.

"we're gonna need a bigger bomb range"
