Well the remake of Oddworld Abe's Oddysee is coming out on the PS4 in a few days. Looking forward to that.

Also, iirc, download speeds are faster than they were on the PS3.

Other than that, not much interests me about it at this time.

You can flawlessly stream games you are playing on ps4. You can also flawlessly watch people stream on ps4.

I mean, yeah i know it's not the next best thing since sliced bread, but it's an upgraded version of a ps3. An upgrade every 10 years isn't that bad.

I buy new clothes every season even though my old clothes are just fine.
I get a new phone every 2 years even though i could probably still be using an iphone 3.
I buy new winter coat every year even though last years coat still keeps me warm.
I buy a new TV every 4 years even though the last one still worked.

Well you get the picture. People spend their lives "upgrading" even though what they had before would still work.

Nothing about the consoles per se, just some games that have been pushed onto them. Like Kingdom Hearts 3 or The Last Guardian, if and when it does come.

On my PS4, I can go from playing a game, to watching Netflix, and back to a game again within ten seconds. For me, this helps a lot. I tend to get bored of things quite quickly. The amount of apps is nice too. I can finally watch anime on something bigger than my laptop screen.

The games appeal to me, and I like what Sony has to say about how they view their system moving forward. Sure that's not going to jive with everyone but, if it does, I'm really not sure what else you'd need.

I wouldn't say there is anything massively innovative, but there isn't normally is there?

I mean, the jump up from NES to SNES brought us better graphics, a few more buttons...not really much else. The most important thing is the next generation of games, more so than being innovative, imo.

It's an upgraded version of my 360/PS3. That is all I want.

In fact, I wish they'd stop innovating for the freaking consoles and just give us the damn things. I don't need some stupid touch-pad in my controller or a 2001 Space Odyssey camera tracking my every move.

Give me some killer games to go with my vanilla console and I will be a very happy camper.

The best thing about the new generation on consoles is that games can finally move forward again. The 360s hardware and devilishly long lifespan meant games as recently as this very moment are being developed for 9 year old hardware. And since its predecessor was responsible for the age of cross platform games development, all I've had to play on my current, top end PC to date have been shoddy ports of games made for 2005 hardware.

Now that memory has increased, gfx performance and cpu speed upped, games in the future will hopefully look and play better and have fewer annoyances.

The ability to sell millions of units while having almost no games to play except last gen ports. Well, I thought that was pretty incredible.

Basically this for me, too...

Unless they do release a PS4 themed in either of those games, though...

Other than that... Playstation Now and a commercial with Aaron Paul in it...

A few days? Really!? Because holy shit, that would be awesome!

OT: Games.

New games that look better and run smoother that I can enjoy playing. I just bought Wolfenstein: The New Order for the PS4 and I've been having a fucking ball with it. But then I'm a simple man with simple pleasures -- Give me a new console to continue enjoying the newest games and I'm happy.

So far I really enjoyed Watch Dogs, Outlast, Strider, Wolfenstein and NFS Rivals on PS4 but calling these games 'exciting' or 'innovative' ehmmm...no. :p I don't really care about peripheral services but there are some games in development I'm really excited for like Bloodborne and Arkham Knight. So I'd say the only exciting thing about the PS4 so far is dreams about the future. :p

I think we can all agree that the new consoles are basically just upgrades on the old. That is not really a problem for me but at the same time I have not bought either one because without some unique feature I don't need them at the moment. My xbox 360 and ps3 are still being supported and at the moment in time there is nothing I really want to play on the next gen.
Nintendo kind of tricked me with the gamepad which is fun to use but they did have a bad first year with their games and I might have chosen to wait until at least Zelda HD and Lego City came out.
So yeah, I am waiting for Batman and Kingdom Hearts 3 and hopefully before Batman comes out I can decide which one is worth getting because at the moment they both have crazy big installs and update patches with nothing else that I want. Social features don't interest me especially since I have stopped using the miiverse because I find that very few meaningful discussions ever happen as people rarely ever reply to your question within a day and at that point I have just moved on.
