Name your "scene".

EDIT: I'm starting out with this up here, because people seem to going to the site and not reading the rest of my post but, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FIND A SCENE ON THAT SITE THAT YOU FIT INTO. Also, make sure you've got a sense of humor before you venture to the site, it's supposed to be funny, and yes, they're modern stereotypes, so you're not going to find anything like Mozartcore or such on the website. Also, please give your self appointed scene a name, it doesn't need to be clever, just a cohesive name to attach to your "scene".

So, today I found my way to http://yourscenesucks.com/. The site mockingly illustrates "scenes" as in, from my interpretation, different lifestyles, as defined by musical and fashion preferences. With little surprise I couldn't find my personal "scene".

You see, I don't listen to music that creates a "scene" I like soothing stuff, Jack Johnson Jeremy Messersmith, that kind of stuff but I mix in some more rock stuff too, Weezer, the Black Keys, that stuff. And my way or dress is different than what I've seen around school too, I tend to where iconic "nerdy" graphic tees (I have a power ranger one, a thunder cats one, and a star wars one) with plaid shirts over them and "slim straight" pants, as skinny jeans are a bit more than any male should bargain for. So I've named by scene SoftNerdcore, not much in the way of originality, but I like it.

So, now it's your turn, describe yourself and name your scene.

Also, as an after thought, since this is a gaming site, feel free to mention your preference in games too. I tend to lean toward RPG shooters, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect being my two favorite games.

EDIT: You don't have to force yourself into on the site I mentioned above, as I said I couldn't find anything and so I made my own up. That's kind of the point of this site, unless you find one you like on the site.

The link won't work. And I need the websites guidance.

EDIT: Got to the website, not very helpful...

Anyway, I guess my "scene" is anime watching/ video game playing kind of feminine boy, if that counts.

So....what scene describes a person who looked at the dropdown of "scenes" and didn't know what like 90% of them were?

That's my scene.

The quiet, romantic 'pretty boy' scene... pretty lame, hey? Oh well, it gets girls...

Is this horribly sterile, corporate, dull, soul-destroying Business Department building in which I spend my campus time a "scene"? Because whoever's scene this is, they might as well just climb up on the roof (it's a six-story building) and make with the BASE jumping without a parachute.

I prefer the company of artists, musicians, writers, and people who suck at the three disciplines just mentioned but make up for it purely on moral character. And, of course, any place I can take a girlfriend with a collar and a leash and nobody looks at me funny.

Someone called me a hipster the other day. Was slightly offended.

On the one hand, I'm a geek, I enjoy movies by Werner Herzog and Wes Anderson, I read Pitchfork, my glasses are definately on the thick rimmed sid), my iPod includes people like Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens, NMH and all that lot, I wear retro clothes and band t-shirts, I read books by beatniks and existentialists.

On the other hand, I'm an actual geek (I study physics with math and philosophy), I enjoy movies by lots of people, I read lots of reviewers, I need my glasses to see, my iPod contains more than its fair share of classic rock, metal, rap and jazz as well, my jeans are fairly loose fitting and I like to think I dress fairly sensibly, I read a lot of books generally.

To summarise me:

Music: Anything rock-related, from Punk to light Metal to Hip Hop to Alternative. Also classical or classical-like instrumentals, with electronic sound accepted. Anything with soothing and meaningful vocals too.

Dress: Urban I guess? Jeans, skate shoes/runners, t-shirt or casual shirt, hoodie and the occasional hat/scarf/gloves? I try to keep brand names off my t-shirts though, and I think I only have one. It's a roots shirt, so I can excuse it as patriotism ;)

Video Games: Anything intelligent with soul put into it, really. Indie games and shooters are pretty good bets, but I'm not so into the standard FPS multiplayer at all, so TF2's really my only online game that I play. I'm not so into the RPG genre at all, though Mass Effect and Paper Mario have been two very notable exceptions.

The personality genre I fit into is probably "the nice guy" (I have a picture to accompany that somewhere.) I always treat others the way I'd like to be treated, share almost everything, and am the best person to confide in that I know. But I think the nice guy has a prerequisite of always being trodden on, which doesn't describe me very well at all.

And I lol'd at popcore dork

I would say the only scene on that site that I would fit was post-rocker. Still have to get my GY!BE tattoo though.

I wear cargo pants or jeans, a hoodie over top of a band t-shirt, and somewhat tousled hair. I listen to all kinds of metal except black and death, and I have a very happy or dark view of the world depending on the day. In movies, I like high bodycount action movies*, comedies that are funny throughout, or more intellectually challenging films, depending on my mood.

I'm not sure if I really have a scene.

[sub]*Terminator, Robocop, The Matrix, Die Hard, all these are low bodycount. Good, but still low.[/sub]

My "scene's" not on there. A disturbing lack of "electro-anything" scenes on there. Cuz I'm somewhere in that scene for sure. Or, at least, certainly belong in one more than any other.
What do I look like in my scene? See profile pic. Jam some electro-house on Youtube while doing it.
Venue? Something with lots of lights, lots of bass, lots of shiny clothing, fuzzy things, a predilection for neon and glow...find that "scene" for me on that site, and I'll take it. Cuz I sure couldn't, or maybe I didn't look hard enough...

I'm a punk rocker, but not the type that wears the standard issue "punk rock style." I am very much punk rock, I just choose not to dress like those dumb ass kids who don't know the first thing about the punk mentality. That you can't buy in a store.
