National Weed Day

Today was national weed day. It's basically a day where people say

"I Will not smoke weed today."

Okay. Am I the ONLY ONE who thinks this is stupid to advertise at a HIGH SCHOOL? I mean come ON. It's just pants-on-head RETARDED. "Okay, I'll smoke pot tomorrow." Best. Plan. EVER.

Wait...I thought it was a day to do just the opposite. But I do agree with you. It's stupid that it's spread through high schools so fast and I know it did in mine. All I heard all day was about how people were going to smoke pot.

We actually had a kid that had to be hospitalized. Something that had to do with pot, of course. No idea if you can OD on it or what he did. But we had an ambulance and drugs were involved. All I really know. -shrug- Stupid, either way.

Impossible to OD on THC, to do so you would have to smoke roughly your body weight...which I doubt is even possible. Reefer is much less harmless the alcohol, and at least more interesting then tobacco. Only reason its still illegal is politics and money rather then an actual fear of the drug. Considering the other things out there I would rather have people smoking pot to shooting heroin, snorting coke, or smoking crack.

Truth! Seriously, I don't smoke pot cause I don't care for it, but the illegality of it isn't based on any solid science and it could be a great source of tax revenue. Legalize it!

Its a load of crap to be honest. It's NOT a official day, People smoke weed any other day and I know for a fact Police etc are going to go Ban-Hammer-Happy on this day because its so damn easy to pick out drug traffickers and wielders.

Yeah, I think in all anti-drug campaigns, the way schools tend to approach them generally just encourages use. I'm an ex-drug user, and I wish that the schools had just been more honest with me to start with, the problem is that they demonize marijuana (I now believe even marijuana use is inadvisable, but I wouldn't go so far as to demonize it) and because they demonize a drug that most people realize is nowhere near as harmful as they say it is, it makes it much more likely for kids like myself to make the stupid assumption that they exagerrated their claims about drugs in general. I mean, I'm not going to blame the schools for what happened to me, everything I used was my bad decision, but I do feel like I would've been more likely to draw an appropriate line if they had been forward to start with, instead of demonizing it and using bullshitty moralizing tactics like the one the OP described.
