Disclaimer : I know this has been done before by others. I read several of them but none really helped me with my dilemma.

Now that that is out of the way and will hopefully prevent the Search Nazis lets get down to business.

My problem is this, a couple months ago for my roommates Bday we split a rather large bottle of 100 proof rum for rum and cokes (I paid for it for his Bday). Anywho, now I can't touch the stuff anymore. I don't throw up but I get close with just a little sip. Thursday is my Bday and we are going to have a small party (5-10 of us) and I need a new drink.

I am rather flexible, I can drink anything besides Rum. I'm looking for a mixed drink (preferred) or a good wine (second choice), we will be having beer when we go down town so I want to avoid that to start. Cost isn't a real big deal, I can afford most stuff but don't want to go overboard.

Any suggestions are welcome, except the usual "stop drinking" crap.

Gin and tonic is a good choice. But my favorite mixed drink is half gin and half Mt. Dew.

Seriously, it rocks.

Irn-Bru, apparently it goes well with vodka(I assume anyway because I was told it was No.1 non-alco drink in Russia at one point)

But yeah I don't drink so my opinion isn't much I guess.

Gin and tonic, or a nice Seven and 7. If gin isnt your thing, nothing wrong with a large bucket of Pink Panty Droppers. (18 beers, one bottle of vodka, two things of pink lemonade concentrate.) You can make it to scale if you dont have that many party goers.

Firefly Sweet Tea flavored vodka. 3/4 cup of water, 1/4 vodka, add ice, ad lemon, and stir.

A low calorie fare that should get you good and toasted.

Drink Mead.. seriously.. you can drink it like a sweet beer. Smooth and tasty and sweet... but it has 10% alcohol and the "being drunk" state is cool, and no bad headaches at morning.

Or a good red wine... next best thing to LSD or drugs *g* It's a sweet high.

My personal favourite.

Kamikaze: vodka, triple sec and lime juice (lemon also works).

But don't drink it in shots like some do.

Oh, and ice, lots of ice...

I probably should have mentioned this but we will most likely play some sort of drinking game before going down town (either pong or some card game) so shot type drinks don't really work.

Also thank you for all the suggestions, so far I am leaning towards Mead or one of the Gin drinks mentioned but I am still taking other ideas.

Then put Fernet Branca in some coke.

Raki and/or Absinthe.

Drink neat from shot glasses, down the shot in one for maximum effect.

But be warned, drink slowly and space 'em out or you'll wake up in hospital with an atomic powered hangover.

Akevitt!

No, I didn't just hit some random buttons. It's a real word. It refers to a beverage which is produced by soaking various herbs and spices in alcohol.
