I am really goddamned frustrated right now. Welcome to MMOs, I know.

I decided to get back into SWTOR now that it's F2P just so I could go through the class stories. I did a fresh install(of about 30GB), which took a couple of nights to download. Update 1.7 just dropped yesterday-ish(time zones confuse me at 3AM), so I had to run that. So here's a play by play of my experience since then:

1) Update downloaded, but wouldn't install(stuck at 0%)

2) Forums were down, so had to google the issue

3) Most hits referenced the then-nonfunctioning forums, so that was fun

4) Finally got it to install by forcing the client to redownload some of the assets(about 11GB), which took the that entire night.

5) Tonight I logged in, only to find that the game crashes when I try to load my main.

6) Ran the repair function in the launcher

7) Didn't help, so I decided to blow some steam by playing an alt.

8) That didn't help, because my alt couldn't activate an object necessary to advance the story.

9) After trying several troubleshooting steps(for about 2 hours), I give up and go play another alt to blow off the steam accumulated from the previous two attempts to play the damned game.

10) I quickly discover that its worse than I thought. Not only can I not activate mission items, I can't even attack anything. Pressing hotkeys does nothing. Clicking abilities does nothing. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

11) Oh, and the reason that I am posting this thread? I can't get support. I cannot post on the forums, I can't create an in-game ticket, nothing. So what, I'm supposed to pay them for a game that doesn't work in order to let them know that it doesn't work in the hopes that maybe they'll take pity on me and help me out? Will someone please put that cart back behind the horse where it belongs?

I am not amused. Anyone have an idea what to do about this sort of thing? I mean besides not playing the game. I'm already considering that one.

I can't even begin to guess at what the problem might be, unfortunately. I was in Origin the other day for the SimCity Beta, and I decided I might as well update my TOR while I was in there just in case I ever got an itch to play it again. I patched the launcher, launched the launcher, watched it freeze for twenty minutes, and shut it down with the task manager. It's a very temperamental game. It always was, really.

As much as I think TOR was a much better game than people gave it credit for, the FTP model EA chose to adopt is so idiotic that I really can't recommend it to anyone at this point save for die hard Star Wars/Bioware fans.

Oh, geez. I'm glad I haven't bothered trying to log back into my own F2P account yet. Thanks for the heads up on this, I think the latest update was supposed to affect F2P players as well as subscribers.

On an unrelated note, that avatar is probably the best I've seen here. Simple, yet elegant. I could probably stare it for hours.
