I just bought my Elgato recently, and it's been... intimidating. For starters, when I first open Game Capture HD, it does this:

I've watched several how-tos online, and no one else's seemed to have the looping or they just skipped straight to recording, so I couldn't see.

My second problem is trying to record live commentary. I have a TurtlebeachX12. I tried chaning the audio input on Game Capture, but it doesn't pick up anything other than my speakers, so no go.

Help is greatly appreciated! And thanks in advance.

So...you're using the Elegato to record what's happening on the same computer that's doing the recording? Because that would explain the looping. You wouldn't have seen it elsewhere because others would be using it to record from a console or at the very least a different computer otherwise why not just use FRAPS or equivalent because you're probably not getting any performance benefit doing it this way.

I'm not familiar the recording software you're using but it may be that it doesn't support recording from your computer's mic or the setting is in a different location separate from the recording input from the capture card. Either find that setting, play your mic through your speakers so it is fed into the capture card, manually patch your mic into the capture card input or record it with a separate application such as Audacity.

I should have read up on it more before buying it, but I'll find a way to make it work.
Thank you for your help!
