So care to help anyone?

Its going to be purely for gaming and broadcasting stuff onto the net via jtv and youtube

Not to be a buzzkill but you're going to be hard pressed to find an up-to-date "gaming laptop" for $1000.

At the upper end, Razer's upcoming (underpowered) laptop is going to run about $2800, to give you an idea of how high they go. A lot of people go to the Dell XPS line, but a grand is still going to be on the low end of it.

$1000 US. For a gaming Laptop you may have to spend a bit more then that, but it all depends on the settings you want to use. I suggest just to go to your nearest computer store and ask, do some online research. I have a desktop so I couldnt help you.

If you're willing to go a few years back in games, you'll probably have a lot more luck.

Ok well here you go. I suggest to get a computer the new intel processors, 15 or 17. Then make sure it has good RAM. My desktop has 8 Gigs of RAM, 4 should be plently prohaps to do some gaming. Your video and graphic card might be bad for the price so before you start playing the game change your screen resolution to 800x600 or something like that. You should be ok.

Dont think you can play Cyrsis or Witcher 2, or maybe even Deus Ex, Stick with some indi games and older classics, Halo 1, or Warcraft III stuff like that.

Come back when you have $2000 at least.

A decent gaming laptop, though, can range anywhere from $1200-$1500.

STAY AWAY FROM ALIENWARE!!! After the m11x, you're basically paying for the brandname.

Asus makes GREAT gaming laptops - my dad has one and it is AMAZING.
Yea iv known how bad alienware is thats why I already avoid them im wanting to make sure to get somthing decent do you have any recomentdations like links to or such?

Give Sager Notebook [http://www.sagernotebook.com/] a try. I'm planning on buying one from them once I save up enough, and they have decent ones (certainly not high-end, but they're pretty good) for about 1k or lower.

Just want to say that gaming laptops aren't exactly mobile. The weight and the battery life is almost unreasonable and the downgrade in performance when it is unplugged is a little annoying when playing current titles. Sure I was able to play crysis 2 in class but the amount of money and limited use (when not near an outlet) didn't impress me.

My $900 laptop from last year can run Deus Ex: Human Revolution no problem. :\

There's no need to overspend. You can find a good laptop for that price. Try MSI or Asus.

Asus is probably your best bet. Price vs performance and reliability will give you the most bang for your buck. I'm still against gaming laptops but I suppose in certain circumstances they are acceptable.

I provided some in my original post after an edit. You can sort through laptops of all brands on that site. You can specify your search to narrow results.

I have a M17x Alienware laptop R1 (2009 model). Got it early this year for WAY more than $1000 US. With that budget buddy, you can only make one yourself. Your dreaming with $1000. Do you actually need a gaming laptop? Because I don't. They are fuck off heavy, fuck off massive and whenever I use one in public, everyone in a 100km radius stares at me, as if they're gonna run off with it. And the battery while full throttle is like 30min, if that.
Just buy a desktop.

For $1000 you aren't going to get the most top of the line gaming laptop, but you can still get one that plays current generation games pretty damn decently. I recently got the following laptop for just under $700:

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AS7741G-6426-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B004G5ZXH0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314682708&sr=8-1

It has an i5 2.66 ghz processor, 4 gigs of ram, a 640 GB HDD, and an AMD Radeon HD 6550M graphics card.

So far this computer has been able to run anything I throw at it without a single hick up and it can play both Crysis and Metro 2033 on high settings with a playable framerate (as well as playing Deus Ex, TF2, and Fallout New Vegas all at 60 FPS easily.

It does however have some downsides. If you're going to use this computer to game you REALLY need to invest in a cooling pad. Not any cooling pad, because all the vents on this laptop are on the left side, so you'll need a cooling pad that you can reconfigure so that all the fans are on the left.

The HDD isn't so great either. While it has some pretty decent storage space at 640 gigs, it isn't that fast, running at 5400 RPM.

All in all it's a great budget gaming laptop, but you shouldn't expect it to last you more than a couple of years. The parts aren't top of the line, and aren't as reliable as you would probably like, but it's all about compromise, cheap power versus reliability (but then again, in 2 years computers will probably have increased in power enough that you'll want a new one anyway).
