Alright so recently my 8800 GT 512 mb has been acting up

What happens is that when I boot my PC, the screen will remain blank & the motherboard will give out 6 high pitch beeps.

This only happens when the GPU is intact. I've tried reseating the RAM, cleaning the card, applying new thermal paste. Nothing seems to have worked

My card has done this before, but after a short period of time it would work again as if nothing happened.

I've had my card for about 8 months now.

Here are my specs

Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz
550 Watt PSU 12V 18A
4 Gbs of RAM
Windows 7 64 bit ultimate

Nah, that's a BIOS POST code, it identifies a hardware fault so you'll either need a replacement or a repair. Incidentally check your warranty, nvidia gives quite good ones.
Actually, I bought the card from dell. lifetime warranty ftw xD

Look up the motherboard's beep codes and then you'll know what the problem is. Could be a lot of things. Also I've read about 8800 GTs dying and then people bake them in the oven, which remelts the solder and it works again after it cools off.

Well there's your problem...

Seriously though, what Mobo do you have? Look up it's POST codes, see what they mean.

Also, are you sure that you've plugged in a 6-pin PCI-E cable from your PSU to the card? I made that mistake once.
