Hey guys. My band is playing our first out of province show this Friday, and we've decided to do a few things differently. One thing we hate about shows is that awkward silence that ensues while our guitarists need to take a break to tune up, or I need to take a moment to tweak a few things on my drum set.
Usually, we have our vocalist say a few words, introduce who we are and such, but there's been times where he'll have nothing left to say, and one of us is still not ready to continue, or he'll stumble over his words a bit. Long story short; the awkward silence still happens in one way or another.
We want to keep the energy going, so we were thinking of utilizing a technique that we've seen other bands use, which is using samples. (Eg, when I saw I See Stars back in the summer, they played short bits of some Knife Party tracks between songs). This way, there's at least something playing over the speakers at all times, avoiding that silence. Our vocalist can talk over the sample, and when he's done, it's no problem, because there will still be music.
I'm currently scouring YouTube and my music libraries for anything that might work, but I wanted to check if anyone here had any suggestions! We don't want anything 'ravey' or over the top. We'd like an electronic sample, but I use that term loosely. Something more mature, you could say. If you've got anything, post it here!
P.S, if anyone feels that they need to hear the music to determine an appropriate sample, or you're just interested in listening, (I apologize for the self promotion) you can stream and download our tracks for free at this link: -Mod edit: Please do not post links like this, it counts as advertising.
Thanks in advance!
