I've been given permission to listen to music during school so I can drown out the noise from the annoying students that drive me insane, but I've only got a certain selection of game songs I listen to. Thus I've been "acquiring" full soundtracks for me to listen to on my MP3 player during class. Since I'm there for about three and a half hours a day, and I've still got about eight months left of my program, I need a lot to listen to. The bigger and better the soundtrack, the better.

As for the sort of style of music I enjoy, I prefer something that has a good tune to it, and ideally a good beat. Of course I'm open to anything, so just shoot off anything. With that said though, the sort of generic music you'd hear in most modern day shooters really isn't my style.

Just to give you a sort of idea as to what I like, here are the soundtracks currently on my MP3 Player.

NiGHTS into Dreams
9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors,
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Sonic 1 + Sonic 2
Sonic Colours
Mega Man 9
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Ace Attorney Investigations Miles Edgeworth
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario RPG
Oden Sphere (which I've never listened to, so it's an experiment)
Radiant Historia
Shantae Risky's Revenge
Mighty Flip Champs
Mighty Milky Way
Wario Land Shake it!
Donkey Kong Country
Elebits
Kirby Super Star
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Disgaea 1
Nanostray 1 +2
Prinny Can I Really Be the Hero?
Star Fox
Star Fox 2
Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier
Tetris DS
Touch Detective
Ys Seven

Admittedly that's a TON of music, but I've already listened to four of them, and that was just one day of school! So I'm gonna need lot's more. This is a great opportunity to listen to some good soundtracks I've never heard before, and actually have a good time and reason to do so. Oh, and I've been playing Pokemon since I was a kid, so I really don't need any Pokemon soundtracks on there. ^_^;

How will you hear the teacher if you're listening to music during class? Also, aren't you afraid that this will make you (more) socially isolated?

Anyway, I really like the soundtracks from Final Fantasy 7 and 8 (don't know the others), Portal and Morrowind, but most of the time I don't pay attention when I'm playing a game.

I don't see the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game soundtrack on there, so get that. Its fantastic if you like 8-bit music. Most of the Final Fantasy games have good soundtracks, my personal favorite being FF9. The Street Fighter series has a TON of catchy themes, most of the best coming from Street Fighter 2 and IV. Ken's Theme is great for getting pumped to work out!

Well, the course I'm in isn't exactly your traditional course. We don't sit at a desk and listen to the teacher and so on. It's a course where we prepare ourselves for a retail work environment, and thus we simulate the work place by doing various tasks one would do in the workplace. For example, we have a station where we learn how to properly hang, tag, nub, and price shirts and jeans using the same equipment the stores would use, a station where we use hilarious plastic food to practice bagging groceries, a station where we learn how to use a price scanner, various tasks involving a pricing gun, and many other tasks. It's all very individual, hands on work in the first place, and the only time we really need to communicate with the teacher is if we have a question, or when we ask him to check our work. When I need to do that, I simply pause the music so I can hear. Besides, when the teacher does need to talk to us, he always comes right up to us and gets our attention, so when I see him coming, I just focus more on my surroundings, and if he talks to me, I simply pause the music.

As for the social part, you gotta keep in mind that this is a course for people with mental handicaps and neurological disorders and such, and thus none of us have an easy time coping with each other. I in particular have a low boiling point, and get frustrated with people quite quickly, and when I do get frustrated, I can't focus on my work and I'm nowhere near as productive. True it's not exactly something I can do in the real workplace, but it's something I can do for now at least. When I'm in the real workplace I'll be around people more, (how to delicately say this without sounding too horrible)... "functional", so it won't be as much of an issue.

Hmm.... I think I explained it well enough... probably a bit too much :/

Funny thing about the Scott Pilgrim Soundtrack. I actually did get a hold of it, but it was in a file format that when I put it on my MP3 player, caused all sorts of issues. I'm currently trying to find a version in MP3 format. I haven't listened to much Street Fighter music, since the only Street Fighter game I own is Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo for PS1. (Got it at the thrift shop for 6 bucks!) I really like Sakura's theme in that game. (I prefer the in-game, lyric-less version though) Oh, and FF9 by far as my favourite version of the "Prelude" theme. FF9 was actually one I already intended to download some time in the future, but thanks for reminding me. I kinda forgot about it. ^_^;

I prefer the Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill score, and a bit of Hitman, a bit of Super Meat boy, something from Portals, and Gex 2 (never heard of that? go check it out, it was a fun game on the ps1 or n64)

I doubt it's what you're looking for but I love Fallout 3's radio. The soundtrack is awesome. I love that time period of jazz and swing anyways but I'm sure anyone who liked the game enough to play it all with the radio on, are now in love with those tracks.

You can't really buy Touhou's OST anywhere, but if you don't mind remixes of video game music, have a free sample of my super freeze breath what people did with the game. If you need proof that, on its own, the music is just as good as the remixes:

You should check out the soundtrack for Nier and The World Ends With You. Both have some pretty amazing soundtracks that are worth listening to.

I have Two songs and one group thing. The group thing is Sonic and the secret rings. The Music in that game is really the BEST part of it. and the two songs are... and OOH! this one is really good too! (I know you said no Pokemon music, but you know you love this one and you know it. Not to be redundant or anything....)

No halo?
No splinter cell (chaos theory is fucking ace)
silent hills? gears of war?
uncharted
Jade empire
killzone 3
Mgs 2-3-4
mass effect 1-2
Crysis 2 (new york aftermath, is a epic tune)
World of warcraft original sound track, expansion not that good, but try the "grizzley hills2 song from wrath of the lich king
shadow of the colossus
The only game on that list I've played is Shadow of the Colossus, and even that I wasn't able to get to the first Colossi because I couldn't control the main character or his horse. XD (Yeah, never been good with 3D) I never owned a PS2, I don't do well in 3D game worlds, I suck at stealth, I'm horrible at shooters, and I'm a complete coward, so yeah, I haven't been able to play any of those games. :p Well, I guess I COULD play WoW, but the day I pay monthly for a game is the day I go get an autograph from Steve Gutenberg. :/

Your lack of Guilty Gear and Blazblue music is disturbing. They're down right awesome sound tracks and if you like them I highly suggest downloading the Guilty Gear X Blazblue live 2011 sound track; along with other related albums of course.

Also the music from the Ys series, it is also made of pure awesome if you enjoy rock/metal tunes.
