Pretty much.

Nerds are smart, geeks are lame.

nerd always struck me as computers and comics, games D&D. Geek to me was the really smart kid in school (I.e me) into science etc. (more old fashioned)

There is a difference as they say because not all geeks are smart and not all nerds like hardcore fantasy etc.

I'm all 3 D=

What wikipedia says about dork:

USA pejorative slang for a quirky, silly and/or stupid, socially inept person, or one who is out of touch with contemporary trends.

What wikipedia says about nerd:

Nerd (pronounced /ˈnɜrd/) is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests rather than engaging in more social or popular activities. Therefore, a nerd is often excluded from physical activity and considered a loner by peers or will tend to associate with like-minded people.
What wikipedia says about geek:

The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc."[1] Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs. The 1976 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary included only the definition regarding geek shows.

Geeks: Went to Sakuracon and like manga or other geeky stuff like that.
Nerds: On track for (or completed) Computer Science or Physics/Chem/Bio/Engineering Degree. Actually get marketable skills from their hobbies.

I was a geek before it was cool.

I dunno if this happened anywhere else, but a couple of years back in Britain this whole Geek Chic thing kicked off, all of a sudden everyone had Sonic T-shirts and belts made out of NES pads. It bugged the hell out of me because Nintendo seemed to have a monopoly on the whole thing because you couldn't get Sega merchandise and I grew up a Megadrive kid!

I always embraced my geekiness, I honestly think I have more fun and better friends because of it, the cool kids always looked so bored! Also, when you get to University the geeks are the majority and the few that still cling to school style clique-iness look really immature.
