Nervous thoughts of Fallout : New Vegas

I have never played the first two fallouts, so i have no idea whether i would like them at all or not. I know one thing however, and that is the fact that Fallout 3 for me is one of my favorite games of all time. Hence my avatar picture. Apparently from what I have heard, Obsidian is a great developing company and that they wont mess this up. I was watching a video of this game on Youtube that featured a companion wheel. I personally dont really like this idea, firstly because of the fact that i dont want to keep track of my companion's health or actions or anything else, all i want them to do is shoot people and follow me around. Things like this that are being created this early on in development somewhat worry me that the fallout 3 i enjoyed will be changed around a little too much for my liking. But it is still definitely too soon to tell, i may be wrong. Still, i wish Bethesda would be making this one as well. Thoughts?

I think that it'll be just fine. Stop worrying, it won't be coming out for a while.

I for one welcome the companion wheel. Bloody hard to manage them in Fallout 3, shut up Charon I just want to dump a bunch of guns into your backpack, sheesh. They will still self-heal I'm sure. I'm still hoping they will get rid of feral ghouls. They make the ghoulphobia justified, completely negating the ghoul pathos. Stupid Bethesda.

Besides, everyone will buy it anyways just because its the next in the series, no questions asked, how else do you think Final Fantasy 13 ever got sold? If people knew what crap it was, i bet it would never have been sold if it wasn't a Final Fantasy Title.

EDIT: I'm not saying the next fallout will be bad, it will probebly be kick ass. Im just saying its a no brainer to buy it. that and insulting FF13 at the same time.

The whole point of it is that 'your Fallout 3' is being changed around. If you're a die-hard Fallout 3 fan I'd suggest you check out the first 2, because that's more or less a little more of what you'll be getting.

I hope they change a lot from F3. I only liked that game to a degree. It was a little mechanical and lacked emotional impact for me, completely contrasting the first 2.

If you end up not liking the first 2 you might be in for a harsh surprise when NV drops. I can't wait to see if they can put in the old athmosphere again :D.

Just wait for the next Bethesda Oblivi..eh I mean 'Fallout'. Kind of like how Call of Duty fans waited for IW to continue after Treyarchs attemps.

Very good point.

I loved Fallout 3 so I sorta wanted Bethesda to do the new one, I just hope that Obsidian is up to the job and doesn't pull the crap they did in KOTOR 2 or Neverwinter Nights 2.

I dunno if it will have the charm of the previous ones but I doubt it will be terrible. They are using the same engine as three after all. I don't worry it will be bad. I just worry it won't be as good.

well many people i know (myself included) enjoyed the game, itself alone isn't a bad game at all, its just too many people try to compare it to some of the older games, thats where people get dissappointed and start to mock it.

ill look at new vegas for sure, but i despised fallout 3 so i dont know if im going to get it

My only reason for not liking FF13 was because of the fact that eversince FFX-2, the story has been dumbed down dramatically, and nothing is really the same anymore. Though in comparisons to other games, they are shit, but im looking at it just by itself because i merely look at it as shit. im stopping there because its time to get some shut eye.

BTW! someone talk FO New Vegas, not butt @#@#ed FF13 lol xD

I would LOVE to see the love child of Fallout 2's story and atmosphere and Fallout 3's gameplay. FO2 was too dated for me to truly enjoy playing it, but there was a great game underneath all that dust. I hope New Vegas lives up to what a great set of writers (Sawyer, Avellone, Urquhart) and a great gameplay designer (Todd Howard) can do when they join forces.

I know Howard's not directly involved with this project, but metaphorically speaking he built the car and now Obsidian gets to drive it.

Likely, it'll be the other way around. If you didn't like Fallout 3, you probably won't like New Vegas either. I mean, they will be made with the same engine and with the same FPS construct, which was the biggest complaint for FO3 compared to 1 and 2 from what I've seen.

Charon keeps saying "I don't like the look of this place" whenever were in my house... I've prettie'd the place up but he still says he hates it.

We're coming from very different places here. I'm an old-school diehard fan of the first two Fallout games, and I think that Bethesda completely missed the mark with Fallout 3; I find it to be a terrible, tedious game with a vapid, dull storyline. Now that Obsidian (with Fallout 2's lead designer at the helm of the company) is doing a Fallout game, I have a faint hope that it'll be good.

I for one am glad Beth isn't work on it. Now, get to working on the next Elder Scrolls game. I need it.
But yeah, fallout, I don't know much about New Vegas. But if this companion wheel lets me tell them to stop fucking running in front of my gun then getting pissed off when I shoot their asses off then I'll be happy. Although part of me really hopes New Vegas is absolute shit just so I can laugh my ass off at the fanboys who cried and screamed about Fallout 3 without actually playing it or anything.
Hey, I played through the whole thing. Aside from the first fifteen minutes or so (and the Gaaaary vault, that place was great), I suffered through it. I'm entitled to cry and scream.

Oh that wasn't aimed at you. I've just met a lot of people who haven't even played it at all, or were crying and screaming before the game was even released. Obnoxious people who take any chance they can to go on massive rants about how their precious whatever company should be the only ones to ever touch their favorite franchise. I really want to strangle them because they're annoying, I hate annoying people. At least you tried the game before hating it.
Ah. Well, I agree. I went into Fallout III with a wide-eyed curiosity (even though I didn't enjoy Oblivion). I went out of it dead inside, but that's beside the point. Bitching about a game you haven't even tried seems unfair for the most part.
