This is old news (~5 days) at this point, but I was wondering what the (scattered, divided, leaderless) DC fans thought of the new "tactical Batsuit [http://static.srcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/justice-league-movie-batman-tactical-suit.jpeg]" that Zack Snyder posted on his Twitter.

I...don't like it that much. Apart from the goggles, which look weird and out of place, it's got a lot more hard armour pieces, like they slapped some textures on the suit from the Nolan films. One of the things I really liked about Batfleck was that the suit was textured fabric. Don't get me wrong; armoured Batman is cool. But it's like, we've done that, we've seen it, let's see something else.

Plus, the BvS suit really showed off Affleck's guns. Putting armour plates on it - even if it's sensible - just covers up those magnificant 42lb howitzers that he wants us all to believe are biceps. Maybe that's the problem? He had trouble maintaining the bulk in between films?

People on social media have already made a big deal about how the goggles + cowl combo looks a lot like Nite Owl [http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/watchmen/images/2/29/020209-portraits02-big.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090302153937], which is a weird bit of recursive self-plagiarism seeing as Nite Owl is a Batman pastiche to start with. Then some assholes go blah blah Nazi Batman [http://media.comicbook.com/2016/09/nazi-batman-leatherwing-199953.jpg] blah, but my real problem with the goggles is that...well, Batman has never worn goggles. It's not his style. In fact, the go-to theme for making a Batman pastiche is to slap [http://www.writeups.org/wp-content/uploads/Nighthawk-Supreme-Power-Marvel-Comics-Richmond.jpg] some [http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/6/66303/2050466-photo_oct_19__5_28_45_pm.png] goggles [http://static3.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_small/11114/111147698/4978122-screen+shot+2015-12-31+at+12.20.47+pm.png] on that sucker. [https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7f/Blue_Beetle_LAW.png]

Anyway. Hopefully he won't be wearing it for the entire film. Or maybe I'm wrong and it looks great, and I'm just being a grumpy comic book guy.

Looks fine to me, it's Batman.

I do prefer the simplicity of the original Batfleck suit, but I understand they feel the need to make something new for a sequel. Gotta make a new action figure after all don't we...

I doubt he'll be wearing the goggles for the entire time, it leaves most of his face obscured and movie studios generally don't like to hide their talent so much even when they're playing a masked superhero. That's why they have an interior view for Iron man's helmet after all.

Frankly, I'm just sick of Batman.

He's an awesome character, but he's been so thoroughly explored by so many interpretations that I want something new. Not a new take on something old, but something I haven't seen before.

Like, how about getting around to Blackest Night?

Lets go back to the spandex days. That will totally NOT annoy Batman fans. Better yet, lets do a cheesy, campy, Adam West Batman style Batman.

Ew.

Ewww.

EWWWWWWWW.

Goggles look dumb. Maybe it's just the lighting, but that armour looks... gross.

It is actually Owlman!

They are going to do the alternate universe storyline.
That is actually James Woods in the costume.

What a twist.

Yeah, that looks so much like Nite Owl I'm almost wondering if this is supposed to be a Batman/Watchmen crossover.

I'm actually totally okay with the armored look. With all the metahumans, monsters and ninjas Batman fights, you can't really get away with the Adam West/ Animated Series its-just-a-cloth-suit-with-a-belt look. I mean how the hell would Adam West survive a gritty battle with Killer Croc or Poison Ivy?!

I immediately though Nite Owl, but need more lighting to say if it's good or not.

It's actually called the tactical suit, supposedly it's what he uses while piloting his new Bat-vehicles. Why you need more armor to drive, I dunno.

Anyway, a friend brought up to me a horrifying possibility the other day. Iron Head Studios, the guys who made Wonder Woman's armor and the Batsuit in BvS, were pissed off by WB and bailed. So now, WB has all the molds and designs, but no one who knows how they work. It might not sound so bad, but Iron Head were the first ever to make a working cowl for Batman. In other words, they finally allowed Bats to turn his head. But now that they're done with WB, we really might be back to turning-at-the-hip Batman. I didn't believe my friend at first, but looking at the Justice League trailer, there is a noticeable lack of Batman turning his head.

It's really such an advanced technology that no one else can replicate it or figure out how it works?

And they also require such specialised knowledge to make costumes for superhero films? I would have thought they were just concerned about making something that looks cool.

Maybe it's the pose and/or the lighting, but he looks weird. Like somekind of japanese or chinese version of him. And yes, the goggles are not doing him any favors.
