I'm actually totally okay with the armored look. With all the metahumans, monsters and ninjas Batman fights, you can't really get away with the Adam West/ Animated Series its-just-a-cloth-suit-with-a-belt look. I mean how the hell would Adam West survive a gritty battle with Killer Croc or Poison Ivy?!
It's very practical, but my issue is just that...it's been done. We did the armoured look with the Nolan films. BvS went out of its way to try something new, and this feels like a step backwards. (Which, considering the reaction to BvS, may be understandable.)
I feel the the BvS costume was the best film Batsuit so far, mainly because of how effectively it hewed to Affleck's physique and how well the cowl was fitted to the contours of his face. It made him look...bestial, in a way, like the costume was part of his skin and musculature. It actually didn't get enough screen time considering how rad it looked.
And now they're like, "okay we'll cover his abs up with armor and the cowl with a pair of goggles" and I'm like D:

It's really such an advanced technology that no one else can replicate it or figure out how it works?
And they also require such specialised knowledge to make costumes for superhero films? I would have thought they were just concerned about making something that looks cool.
Actually, uh...yeah.
This [https://youtu.be/ayTRYZHGk5g?t=329] is from the Ultimate Edition special features, but they talk about the costume design for a minute or so, and it sounds like it was hella complicated. They basically made a mold of Ben Affleck at film weight, then made a cast Ben Affleck mannequin, then literally assembled the suit in layers around it.
I'd be really upset if those guys bailed on the franchise. They really knew what they were doing.
