Another Evil Dead movie, wow, a chance for incredible awesomness or for great failure. Wathever the outcome it´s fair to say this is news are both surprising and squelingly exciting for most of us.
Still I have yet another reason to squeal.
Not only this is another Evil Dead but also I can´t belive it´s Fede Alvarez who will be directing it, I had heard that after he made a short about giant robots obliterating our capital city of Montevideo, Uruguay, he was going to work on some big project outside of our tiny little country, but EVIL DEAD? Uruguay has made itself known in the outside world media from time to time, with gratification in "Alive", with satire in an episode of The Simpsons where Homer mispronounces the country´s name as U-R-GAY, and with outter disgust in "Submerged" (we have mister Seagal to thank for that one), but now we are talking big leagues here, an uruguayan directing an EVIL DEAD movie, all I can say is:
You go Fede, you are the MAN, make us all proud!
Also on a side note, I have to say that Panic Attack gave me a very different perspective to the Giant Monster Destroys the city formula, I mean, I have seen movies where the White House explodes, or the Tokyo Tower is knocked down, or the Statue of Liberty is destroyed, and those moments don´t really touch me since those places don´t really mean anything to me as personally, and being a giant monster movie fan I have seen many a historic monuments being blown up, but in the short all of a sudden it got personal, I got see places near my home being destroyed mercilessly, the Pope´s Cross on fire, the Legislative Palace exploding, the Independence Square being erased from existence, I really felt it like I had never before. I want to say that, learning the recent news I have a spark of hope lit in my heart, a very small, childish and knaive hope is being born in me as I write these words, the hope that Ataque De Pánico (Panic Attack) will be made into an actual movie at some point, of course the country in wich it would take place is small and unknown so the whole thing is inviable, however, should it ever happen, even if the end result is awful (Godzilla 1998 aweful) it would forever be my guilty pleasure (Godzilla 1998 guilty pleasure) and would be enough for me to die a happy man.
