The news is out about the new star wars live action series. Check it out below...

What do you think? Should they let the multi billion dollar beast lie, or should they revamp star wars for a live action TV series?

Well, whatever we think, it'll make no difference if they want to make some quick cash...
Besides, seeing as George Lucas is the producer, it may be decent.
I'll give it a chance.

Got to say, it looks awesome.
I prefer the whole universe and minor characters of Star Wars to the main ones.

I especially like the idea of short episodes though, as it would get a bit tiring having alot of films about it.
Edit: I like the short episode idea, so that I can watch one or two and see if I like them, I mean.

Does anyone hear that?... That's the sound of RedLetterMedia sighing in anguish.

Lucas should just drop the project. Leave the imaginations of those who are still loyal to you bridge the gap between the III and IV and leave it in their minds. It's just better like that.

Lucas is waaaaaaaaay past his prime. The people who have been writing all of the expanded universe stuff have been making stuff that is a lot better than the prequels and infinitely better than that Clone Wars shit. As long as Lucas has minimal or zero creative input it could turn out really well. I'll watch it bearing my cynicism just as I did when i wathced the Clone Wars movie.

Come on George! First Episodes one, two and three, then The kingdom of the crystal skull, then the clone wars, and now this? Why can't you just leave the things I love alone?!

Did he ever have a prime? I watched the star wars movies again not so long back, and I have to say that having grown up a lot since I first saw them they were utter crap.

He has gone from making marginally watchable crap to making pure and total horseshit on film.

if the entire series is done in CGI like the new films I'll pass.

If they use CGI minimally then I'll check it out.

If you can't tell I hated the liberal use of CGI in the 3 new films.

This is old news for me actually. I remember when this was originally spread out almost nine months ago, but who knows, maybe it will be pretty good? Immediately shutting down high expectations usually makes the final project more bearable.

I'm willing to give it a chance, but honestly, I'm sick to death of seeing Star Wars media taking place during the "Dark Times" between Episodes III and IV. I just can't help but think every story prior to A New Hope represents an old way. It'll still be entertaining, I'm sure, but it won't be as good as it could be.

A true, worthy successor to the Star Wars saga could only take place in the years after Return of the Jedi. As any follower of the Expanded Universe, or even just the Kyle Katarn video games, knows, this is the period when the Jedi slowly begin to return to the galaxy, eventually culminating in Luke going on to form the New Jedi Order. It's a very exciting time, and even without focusing on Luke and his immediate family, there's so much potential for untold stories here.

Yeah I have to agree it was alright for the first 3 films but they have milked it to death.[footnote]Also that link in the first No has a virus in it[/footnote]

Here's the Wookieepedia article on the show.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_live-action_TV_series

From what I read, Bib Fortuna, who was Jabba the Hutt's right hand man will be in it. Oola, the twi'lek dancer who was fed to the Rancor will be in it. The kid who played Boba Fett in Episode II will be in it, reprising his role as the bounty hunter as a youngster. Gregar Typho, aka the black guy with an eye patch from Episodes II and III who served Padme, will be in it. Thall Joben who orginally appeared in the Droids cartoons will be in it. Quinlan Vos, a former Jedi, is rumored to be in it. A young princess Leia might also appear, and they'd explain how she can remember her mother. The actor who voiced Vader's apprentice and who the character was modeled on, has hinted he'll possibly be involved with the show. Also, the show will explore what people in the Star Wars universe what they do for entertainment, their sports such as podraccing, politics, and a plot involving the Death Star plans will be included.

As for George Lucas, it's good he's a producer on the show, and not the director. He works best when he does that. They'll probably be some CGI in the show, but probably not as much as it was in the prequel trilogy.

Episodes I-III have AWESOME lightsaber fights, far superior to the originals. However they are inferior in every every other way shape and form. I have no hope that he can recapture even a small modicum of the magic of the original trilogy.

This? With the female lead cast? Yeah I remember this was supposed to be coming out by the same time as the cartoon show. And besides, more Star Wars? I ain't mad
