The other day I woke up early and decided I was a hungry squirrel/human that craved a breakfast as he was walking to the bus station. Since there was not a Dunkin Donuts along the way to fulfill my need for an egg and cheese on a bagel, I infiltrated the nearest open restraunt open at 8:00 AM which happened to be none other than a Micky D's, or as the French call it: Chez Macdo. Fortunately for me, they had recently added a new item to their breakfast menu: an egg and cheese on a bagel.
My excitement soon turned to dismay the moment the cashier handed me the bag. I took the sandwich out of the bag and held the soggy mess in my hand. The bagel practically drooped and the texture was damp in the hand. Initial impressions were bad and it went downhill from there. The taste was something of a nightmare mixed with engine grease and a touch of hyperbole. Halfway through the sandwich became a donation to the nearest hobo. I didn't watch, but my guess is he used it as a pillow. Perhaps my opinion of the sandwich is skewed by my prejudice I have against chain breakfast that is not the Double D. Anyone in the Northeast is spoiled by having a Dunkin Donuts no more than a 2 minute drive from their house and that is the much better choice.
Please note I have no qualms with McDonald's lunch menu, but breakfast is something best left to the specialists, even Honeydew makes a better breakfast. In conclusion, pickled pig's feet would have made a better breakfast than the McDonald's egg and cheese on a bagel.
