Whatever, just wash your hands.
Another new trailer for the new My Little Pony Movie just came out.
So far still looking good and I love Rarity's line read at the end. But I'm concerned about it showing Celestia and Luna when the badguy shows it since it means once again, they won't get to do anything. Which isn't unexpected but GAHHHHHH, I want them to be competent and powerful.

If you haven't seen the first trailer here it is too.

Still hate the animation. It looks like such a downgrade. I know it's technically not, that technically they had a bigger animation budget, but it looks so second rate.
The audio sync is off, lip motions don't match the words too well.
Shadows! Guys! Shadows! Pick a single light source and shadow accordingly! You cant have contradicting Shadows!

Initially I didn't like the animation either but its kinda grown on me, still not as good as the show but I no longer view it as bad. I think thats just the clip.

You can't go wrong with Rarity. Best Pony has to keep the unicorn representation going after Twilight joined the hoity-toity alicorn contingent.

I'm with you on the royal sisters. Celestia in particular tends to be hit with the Worf Effect more times than I'd like. I'd almost prefer they didn't show up at all for this reason. They could have easily handwaved it as having them being away on a diplomatic mission in some faroff land. Unfortunately it looks like they've been curbstomped by the baddie of the month again if the stone Celestia at the six second mark is any indicator. I do like how Commander Tempest doesn't beat around the bush with your typical grandiose villain speeches; she just steps off the airship and goes "Yo, gimme your magic."

I realize they're marketing this to kids, but the editing was rather clumsy at parts. You go from the Mane Six getting blasted off a bridge in presumably the first act to them clearly jumping/falling from the pirate ship much later on. I think even kids are going to recognize those two scenes have nothing to do with each other.

Ah well, I'm still going to see it, because ponies. If I were to hazard a guess I'd say this'll probably be on par with the first Equestria Girls film for me in terms of enjoyment, albeit with better animation. That's not a knock on it, mind you; I found Equestria Girls to be flawed (fundamentally so in one or two areas), but fun.

Surely we can do better than that? :(

Speaking personally, I rank the EG films as 2>3>1>4. If it's on part with the first, that isn't saying much for me.

Yeah, there was really only a couple episodes where Celestia was shown actually handling things, when Twilight mind controls the town and during the Celestia and Luna episode. In pretty much every other instance she shows up the show goes out of its way to not let her do anything. Ideally my hope would be the royal sisters were off dealing with Cthulu or something cosmic, but just having them away on some diplomatic thing would be better. Then again if they did get stoned at least that gives them a chance to do something at the end, although they probably won't.

Well, it is a trailer, the editing for those has been getting worse and worse.

Yeah, I'm gonna check it out too, I'm hoping it will be playing at the Alamo since beer. I think it will be better than the first EQG movie since it doesn't have to deal with the highschool weirdness (seriously, I can't see any of the mane6 being under the age of 25 and most being closer to 30). I'm not sure if it will be as good as EQG 2 though, then again that one had a lot of great music to help it out and the whole band thing worked better than it should have.

Rarity line at the end remind me of "Game over man!" from Aliens!

Other than that, I admit I starting to show some reluctant on going to see it and this is coming from a Brony! The impression of the trailers now starting to feel abit of a generic kids show! Now HOLD ON yes I know it's a kids films but one of the appeals that I liked about the series that it was more than just a girl shows that are advertising their ponies like the previous incarnations did.

I think the standard kids movie vibe is coming largely from the generic pop song backing mixed with the constant cuts to quip jokes and the sporadic B-movie backgrounds that look computer generated or cel shaded or something, the worst offender being the airship in Canterlot scene. That and the pushing of star power voice talent with the main voice actresses we've been with for 7 seasons being on a joint caption late in the trailer, which looks good on their marketing to push their big name talent, and some will be recognizable to the kids, whereas the show actresses are voice actresses first rather than face celebs or singers, but for fans like me, I don't care too much that Emily blunt orZoe Saldana are in the movie, I'm there for Tabitha, Ashleigh, Andrea, and Tara (Twilight still best pony, fight me Worgen).

The new trailer seems to have some mismatched voice lines, so it looks like they moved some lines to different scenes for the trailer, either that or their lip syncs seems a little off. All in all, I don't expect anything mind blowing from the movie, as long as they handle it better than Bay handled the Transformers or the mess that was the first GI Joe movie I'll be satisfied. It looks like it could be good, I fully expect to enjoy it more than any of the EQG movies, but that probably isn't saying much as the actual fantasy world building is a large part of why I watch the show and taking that to an alternate dimension human high school is basically the antithesis of what I liked about the first seasons.

No intention of seeing this in the theaters, but definitely looking forward to catching it on Netflix and putting it in my rotation of shows and movies on in the background while I pay bills or write court reports.

My biggest complaint is right at the start when the villain is talking about having all this power and wasting it, she walks by what looks a LOT like Celestia frozen in stone. Seriously? I mean, I know the Mane Six have to be the stars, but just once. Just. Once. I want to see Luna and Celestia go all out. I want to see these two powerful Alicorns unleash on a foe, and I want to see that foe go, "Oh no, what have I done?"

Yes, they can still get defeated, but not in a straight up fight. Have them be outsmarted, or willingly give up after they realize the enemy has a trump card.

Otherwise, totally looking forward to this.

The internet has already spoken.

But yeah it is annoying how movies and games always push the veteran voice actors and such to the side when stunt casting happens. Oddly enough the show has instances of the stunt casting really working and not at the same time. Like when William Shatner was in it I couldn't tell till I read the credits. But in the episode with Lena Hall, it started off good but the ending was just way too on the nose.

I can't imagine it not being better than any of the transformer movies. I remember G.I. Joe being good though, then again I was pretty drunk when I saw it.

I know right, all I want is for Celestia to do this.

I think that's why the story episodes annoy me. Those would be the perfect time to give Celestia some power. I mean they keep having stories about heroes in the past and she is still never mentioned. I really think the writers have no idea what to do with her.

Right? I mean, there was that comic where she explained to Spike that, yes, of course she could solve problems easily, but she chooses not to because it helps Twilight, and in that case, Spike, grow and learn how to handle things on their own. And I can accept that.
But come on. The Changelings invaded and she got stomped. Discord's magic vines took her out without a fight. Tirek...okay, I'm okay with that one because she knew what was going to happen if she did fight. And now there's this new pony that clearly has some crazy magical powers. It would seem like, when ALL of her entire kingdom is in danger--real danger--maybe it's time to take the gloves off. And yet, the closest we've seen is the "What-if" timeline where she goes up against Sombra.

But who knows? Maybe they're keeping Celestia's fight a secret. Maybe we will get to see her cut loose in the movie, and they're keeping that under wraps because they don't want to spoil the surprise.

Yeah, that comic was pretty good with how it handled it. It really put her in the roll of being powerful but wanting others to learn to stand on their own two legs.
I think the Tirek episode should have been Celestia getting the power and using it to fight him, the plan of giving it all to Twilight to hide was odd and kinda pointless. They still could have had the ending be Twilight and her friends do the rainbow mane thing but let Celestia do something. That was also what bugged me about the whatif episode. It was another perfect time to show her doing something, fighting Tirek or show her in the waste land sitting on his skull and says something like "it took too much" and going to the sun or something (although if you show Starlight that then its really obvious shes in the wrong, makes it harder for her self realization).

I mean you might be right about the movie, I have doubts though, I have a feeling they will get iced in the first few min then the mane6 will do everything and save them after the baddies are defeated... unless of course we get a big hidden enemy, then they might get to do something.

it look good, my 4 years old daugther is dying to see it, so i guess i will see it in theatre.

however they done exactly what i though they would do. in canada, the french version we have is done in france. there's no french canadian version available on tv (heck, there's no french dvd of any season available in canada at all). But the france version is pretty good, and is currently at season 6 in french on canadian tv. However, for some reason, they decided, to go with big local names to do the voices in theatre, which mean none of the pony have a voice remotely close to the one they got in the show. So i will have to face an hour and half of questionning from my daugther about why they talk all with funny voices...

...actually, Celestia and Luna aside, I have to ask, where's Starlight Glimmer?

I mean, technically this could occur before she becomes a pseudo Mane 7th, but assuming the movie takes place in sync with the overall timeline, I can't help but wonder where she is.

That is a good question, although I'll bet they started work on this before it was really decided that Starlight would become a big part of the show, I'll bet they hand wave it by saying shes off somewhere.

She is probably off on vacation with Trixie and Maud, and they are both trying to win her heart and she's stuck in the middle of their affections. ;-)

But seriously, I'm betting that they will hand-wave her away by saying she is off with Trixie. I'm curious how they'll explain away Discord as well, because I think it's been established that if you mess with Fluttershy, he will come for you.

I just hope the villain isn't all talk and no show ... you know what i'm talking about. They just chat away about their plan, manage to win only because the heroes are bad at their job while the villain is just barely attempting to win- but when it really matters, they go all out in the end just to be outplayed.

The best villains are the ones that show action, are capable of handling themselves, and aren't so one dimensional that you can predict how they'll be a mile away. Too often, the villains are easy to read with no substance or value. Why do you think Discord was liked so heavily? He held the show, had the strings, knew how to break apart the main 6 and was winning hard. I liked him, simply because he was making the shots until the very end (I admit, his cockiness = being defeated is always a lame way to go since I know Discord could of easily avoided that fate) and yata yata.

I'll wait till the reviews come out and what people say about the antagonist. If she's remotely above average then i'll go see this movie.
Has the show had many real villians who are all talk and no show? I mean there are more than a few antagonists but they aren't real villians. I mean we have Discord who was a big challenge for our characters to deal with and he actually pretty much won till Celestia got Twilight off her flank and reminder her who she was. We have Chrysalis who's first appearance was a total mess but when she showed up at the end of season 6 she was a legit dangerous foe. And to top that we had Tirek who beat everyone and we ended up having a big drag out bdz type fight. We even have Starlight Glimmer who is just a normal unicorn but shes a magical prodigy who naturally has very strong grasp of magic that took Twilight years to lean and was dangerous enough to fight Twilight to a total stand still and only gave up when she realized her actions would have much greater consequences than just her getting her revenge.

I guess Nightmare Moon was kinda mostly talk, at least for her first encounter, when she would show up later she was much more of a force.

I'm thinking the storm king will be the real big bad and I'm kinda hoping he ends up calling on some giant monster who we need the help of the princesses to beat.
