I've been getting bored with the usual music I listen to lately, mostly classic rock. Can anyone suggest to me some good newish music to me? No rap/hip hop or country. Thanks.

edit:
Let me be more clear, since there seems to be a bit of confusion. I listen to classic rock from the 60s and 70s atm, and that's about it. I'm looking for some newer bands that aren't "mainstream" like Oasis, Nirvana, etc. because I have already heard them. I need something I have most likely never heard :D. thanks.

edit2:
I have heard some newer music I like, such as some Cold Play. I'm looking for some mellow music, nothing heavy (that's what I'm trying to get away from :p.)

Frédérik Chopin. One of the greatest masters of romantic music.

Or Queens of the Stone Age.

Heh, I can always suggest/show you some music, although there is no guarantee that you will like it.
Here is one I normally post up:
Ahhh... so... soothing...
And another song I quite like.
Of course, if you like them, I could always dig up more...

Agreed, Queens of the Stone age are literally thunderous. Quite different music from Chopin though mate XD

But yeh, we need ideas of what bands you like to suggest new stuff.

I would have said Arctic Monkeys but they've already been mentioned.

Mumford & Sons! Seriously, these guys are phenomenal.

How about Cherbourg? They've sadly split up now, but they left some genuinely touching music behind. They even did some busking.

If you're looking for something more upbeat, I'd point you towards London folk troubadour Johnny Flynn.

Finally, I'd recommend the slightly darker Laura Marling.

Oh, I almost forgot. Radiohead's Harry Patch (In Memory Of) almost made me cry. And I very rarely cry.

I do hope this helps.

Well, my favourite album of the year so far is Surfer Blood's "Astrocoast" - some really great 90s-influenced alternative rock, with a distinct modern twist. I'd also highly recommend Beach House's "Teen Dream" if you're into dream pop. A great album to chill to.

Listen to Frank Turner; I just saw him open for Flogging Molly last week and it was a great show. He's an English guy who plays a mix of folk and punk and he writes some pretty decent lyrics.

If it's mellow music you're looking for, I suggest Cat Power, specifically her 1998 album "Moon Pix".
