new playstation 3 controller?

Whilst scrounging the web for bits of information regarding the new playstation 3 motion controller. I came upon this

I'm not entirely aware of what it is supposedly going to be used for, but speculation has been that it will work in conjunction with the upcoming "wand" for playstation 3's entry into the motion control market. sort of a...nunchuk for the PS3 if you will.

what does everyone else think about the possible uses?

Thata looks like a motion controller joystick, without any fu involved.

Stick to the actual controller, you know they will stuff it up and make it the exact same as the wii

i have no interest in motion control - even the tiny parts like in drake 1 annoyed me. the only time motion control in a ps3 game seemed good was in ratchet and clank : tools of destruction. it's such a gimmick.

yeah I fully agree with you. I had a wii at one point and the best games were the ones where you just pressed buttons... oh, those and DBZ budokai tenkaichi 3 =P

You know We all hate the motion controls but sadly, the men in suits are seeing Nintendo and their motion controller and going, "Why aren't we doing this? Quick, get everyone in R&D to make us one too. Look how much money people are spending on that!"

It looks like something Sony made so that people who bought PS3's can really feel fucked It looks like it's a compliment to the upcoming wand design, as navigating a menu with a wand would suck.
