So as we all know, Starcraft 2 is now only 1 day away! My friend and I are attending the midnight release at my local gamestop but I've got some thoughts. I've never played Starcraft. I have played Warcraft 3 and I loved it. Do you guys think I'll enjoy Starcraft 2? And what are some tips you guys have used in either the original or the beta?

Here is a tip from a crap starcraft player.

Go on the Site and find tips for each unti and counters and etc. Starcraft isn't tactics, its more of this unit counters this one and so on. This isn't a crap tip though, it's really good. Also, MINE AND MINE AND MINE!

Depends on which race you want to play as.

Starcraft is a deep and challenging rts, but my god is it rewarding, addicting, and hands down FUN! Also, a very engaging storyline.
You will love it :D

teamliquid.net is a great place to get strategy advice [http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Main_Page].

If you've played WC3 you'll be pretty well off. In general Starcraft 2 is less micro intensive than Warcraft 3, but has more variety on the strategy & build order & unit composition front. Expect to see a much wider range of standard builds and cheeses.

Starcraft is a totally different beast from WC3. They both control the same, but the games are vastly different.

IMO SC takes far more skill to play well, and has a much more competitive environment. Try not to get discouraged.

You should watch TB's "I Suck at Starcraft 2". They helped me a lot. Also, play a lot of private matches with friends and help each other. But most importantly, watch those replays.

The beauty of the new game is that there will be heaps of new players like the OP however.

Search up teamliquid.net, they have quite a bit of strats you can look at to improve your online play. And remember, always keep producing SCVs/Probes/Drones, ALWAYS!

You haven't played SC recently, have you. Playing multiplayer with someone *other* than pros that have played it for then years...

The best advice that I can offer is the following: It's unlike any other RTS. Believe it or not, SC is the twitch shooter of RTSes. You need to be constantly working though the "macro" research and build queues, never stop producing and mining, while also balancing the "micro" of troop movements.

To show how insane it is: The average pro SC player will make 150 sovereign clicks *per minute*.

Also, you need to build expansions as much as you can. You'll usually have a "natural expansion" that is a mining field really close to your main field, but after that's built you must go out an make more. The name of the game is economy.

Overall, it's a ***** of a game. Go look up guides, and be quick on your feet. Er, mouse.

There are also people who do commentaries on high level games, they can be a great for learning and very entertaining, too. I recommend Day[9], he's a great player and commentator. [http://day9tv.blip.tv/?sort=custom;view=archive;date=;user=day9tv;s=posts;nsfw=dc;page=1]

Regardless of what race you play, DO NOT stop building harvesters until you have about 40-50 of them. ALWAYS maintain 2 active mining locations. (3 as zerg).

Avoid stockpiling resources. Scout, build, scout, and attack or counter, repeat.

If you have the spare resources, build more units, training structures, or expand.
