New to Metroid.

I was hanging with y friends the other day, when they started playing Metroid Zero Mission on their DSs. I decided to borrow the game, but I think I'm missing a lot of back story. Like, is Metroid a robot, or is he just a guy with an arm gun. Also, is the game some big level, or do you advance in different stages?

I'm going to call a troll on this one, but:
The game is called Metroid because that is the name of the aliens that the Space Pirates fight over. The main character is not named "Metroid" but actually "Samus Aran" who happens to be a fairly hot girl. She was raised among the Prozo (That is what they are called, right?) and uses her power-suit with her arm cannon to fight the Space Pirates. She is a bounty hunter.

Metroids are parasitic energy absorbing creatures discovered on the Planet SR388. The Zebean Space Prates tried to use them for evil, and bounty hunter Samus Aran (That's You, btw) took them out and genocided the metroid population. The last metroid thought Samus was her mother, and Samus took it back to HQ. Ridley (the space pirates 2nd in command, behind Mother Brain) stole it, and Samus chased them to Zebes (their home) and smacked them down.

Also, Samus is a girl.

If you want an exploration based Metroid, play either Super Metroid (SNES) Metroid (GBA) or Metroid Prime (GC and Wii)

Don't forget Metroid 2 for the original Game Boy (ah, good times)

Lol.... i can't tell if you're serious. There may be sarcasm slathered on there. But, its a scentless gravy if ever i read some.

If you're serious, its power armor, and last i checked, women can wear power armor without being transvestites.
