Given the period dress, that places Grindelwald's activities pre WW1? I wonder if we'll see or at least see a mention of a young Dumbledore.

Meh looks okay. Kinda generic Potter stuff.
Would it still be generic if Harry Potter tackles Lovecraft? Or Lovecraftian themes?

Because Lovecraft is now treated as "always unique and un-generic"

While I'm no expert on women's clothing, but it appears to me that they're flappers [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flapper], so that would put it somewhere in the 1920's.

But it doesn't really feel that lovecraftian, or if it does its a kid's book version of lovecraft. Sure it has some weird creatures, but they're hardly outer gods or creatures from the deep.
It just looks like more Potter stuff, ie generic magic, wands, British people, "Oh I never!" "Tea and crumpets with magic!" "The power was inside you the whole time" "Oh look, they're using magic to clean 1 dish at a time instead of a dishwasher to do 20. How...magical"

I'm nice and settled in my mind-set that this should have absolutely been a March of the Penguins/Walking with Dinosaurs style
"documentary". Newt would explain who he is, talk about how he's making additions to his book (or maybe notes on the book if this is pre-publication of the first edition) and he's specifically looking for one creature. The film could have been a 90 minute series of vignettes focused on magical creatures in their natural habitats, interacting with each other, living, predator/prey interaction...It might have even been somewhat educational. This could have been something that inspired kids to get into biology, zoology, mythology...but no, instead we get a generic looking action piece with magical creatures.

I'm never going to leave this mindset but I will ask if there's any movie at all close to this OTHER THAN the original early 2000's Discovery Channel series or possibly Troll Hunter...

At least they had the decency to not plaster Harry Potter all over it.

Not sure how I feel about this. That they turned a not-even-spinoff book (more of a booklet really) into a movie trilogy... The Hobbit, anyone? Feels too greedy to me.

Oh well, we'll see.

A more apt title: "Fantastic Money and How to Make It"

I'm not really interested in this at all. I'm kind of burnt out on the Harry Potter universe. I'm sure I'll end up watching it when my wife inevitably purchases it on the Apple TV. I just hope she doesn't want me to go with her to see it in the theater.

Oh yeah the made a new Harry Potter book...and judging from your reaction is it Phantom Menace level of bad?
It's a very fanfic-y book, but I can certainly see how it could be an amazing play.

Amazing that a book written by the person who created this franchise can be considered "Fan-ficcy"

But than again any franchise that deals with the off-springs of a long running charcater can be fan-ficcy if done wrong.

Only one that felt like it was done right was the charcater of Gohan in DBZ.

She didn't write it, the story was made by some playwright and then she wrote the novel based on it.
