New Vegas Companion finder fix

Hey guys

If you, like me, are playing the tit's right off of Fallout:NV, then you possibly know about how glitchy the game is. Also, your companions, much like mine, have possibly also got a secret crime fighting alter ego, and frequently dissapear for days, whilst you walk past people with them telling you "That dog doesn't look too good" -.-" ...

Well luckily, i came across this glitch whilst journeying across the interwebby If you have lost your companions and cannot find them, go to vault 22, and take elevator(50 Repair Req) to the bottom floor, your companions will appear behind you. Simply talk to them and your ready to walk the wastes with them by your side again At least until they decide that tea and scones with Grand-mama is more appealing than wandering around, carrying your shit, and getting shot at by raiders who's armour style suggests "Kinky, but not cheap".

Well, yes it is, but it's just a fix and I don't see the discussion value, Sober Thal seems to have taken care of that with his "What is your favorite combo for companions?" however.

Several days? I'm on hardcore mode, man. I better find a bed down there or I'm going to be dying of exhaustion. At least If I bring enough water I can live off of Mantis legs.

This game is kinda fun to talk about in hardcore mode, but that's another topic.

A simpler PC fix is press T then W and your companions 'should' show up. For consoles replace T and W with the buttons that correspond to the Wait and Accept commands respectively.

OT Nice advice, if that really does solve that problem. I would just revert to a previous save ( I save often). That being said, what is your favorite combo for companions? I love Boone and Rex, but have been using Ed-E and that Brotherhood girl...

I liked Boone and Rex better.

Yeah, boone is bad ass, his rifle owns the hell outta things from afar. Went through a town full of deathclaws and was watching him shoot their heads off before they got a chance to start running towards us with me fumbling to aim made me glad I get XP off companion kills. Boone + ED-E I can pretty must sit on my ass reading a magazine while they clear the area, Iunno who's stronger Boone's sniping or ED-E's laser.

OP: Nice find, I was actually scared to give my ppl any weapons I bought'em since good weapons and armor are pretty expensive and I was worried as soon as I give it to them, they'll suddenly run into a lake or something and I won't see'em again.

You are using Boones base weapon? I got him the 4k+ cap sniper rifle from Gun Runners. 308 ammo FTW.

Yep base weapon atm since I saw that he was still raping with it. I was gonna give'em a sniper rifle but then I took it myself and don't wanna share the bullets till I find a way to get a big supple of them. ._. there's never enough 308's and NPC's shoot bullets like they're made of grass at even the smallest enemies.

Anti material rifle (for me) FTW. That's the only reason Boone has the sniper rifle in my game. Add the incendiary (fire bullets) rounds, and I don't care it takes more than a second and half to reload!

Having Rex run out to stop any death claws from advancing on us is also key.

It sucks that I switched to the girl and the drone... she hides behind me! The drone just plays that cowboy music and fires a weak laser. I haven't gotten his upgrade quests yet.

Boone is an ammo whore tho, I wish we could limit that, but oh well. He does a great job regardless.

lol I actually just went on a suicide mission with boon into caesar's palace to see if I could clear it out w/o buying any new weapons. Turns out I could, lv 14 with just hunting rifles I took from the dead and Boone blasting everything that comes in front of him, it was pretty simple given I didn't even bother to give'em a sniper's which woulda made it even easier. Tmw I'll restart save and do it again because the ballitic fist you get from caesar guard is deliciously broken atm. And ya ED-E laser as turned out pretty weaks looks like it really was Boone destorying everyone, I'd switch him for rex but ; ; it was my first companion and I grown attach to the floating bastard.

ED-E wouldn't shoot anything anymore so I sent him back to base. LOOKING FOR NEW COMPANION! MUST BE GOOD AT SHOOTING THINGS.

ED-E and Arcade for me, a trio of energy-weapon users.

First has the awesome jingles and sets things on fire with a laser. And its perk is useful against invisible enemies, although there aren't that many.
Arcade is the funny guy with an interesting story. Also tears everything to pieces (if he actually hits, that is) with that plasma pistol and has a fairly useful +healing perk.

I only have 6 charisma, so my companions aren't very super-human, but they definitely can deal with most enemies on their own.

Lol I had to leave Boone behind and take Veronica instead, because he was too good and kept stealing all my kills. She's more fun to be around anyway

Also, nice tip I discovered:

If you're using companions, go to options and switch the kill cam to 'Player View', this means that you won't get sudden exploding radscorpions flashing onto your screen every five minutes, and get an awesome slow mo view of your gun reload after you kill things out of VATS.

You can also wait for 6-7 days then head up to the suite in Lucky 38, they sometimes show up there but it takes them a while.

my companion seems to stick to me like glue, its rex that keeps bolting off in some direction only to get into a fight and bring a throng of raiders right back to me. i swear, every time i try and go over a hill he thinks "i will just run around the hill" and then half way through his genius plan he has that dog instinct kick in *squirrel* and off he goes until he randomly appears in some fight i get in

the next patch should either come with a dog whistle or a leash

Boone is probably the best companion in the game next to the Nightkin for hardcore mode.

If you have problems with companions, you could try using the console though I think it does disable achievements.
